Controls :

  • Move using keyboard arrow keys
  • Click to Shoot positivity, happy and destroy the fake news

Tools Used * Game maker studio * Paint.net

Game maker studio2 * Liked the very less build size. * For programmer it is not good * Editor ide is both good and bad.. Good for adding quick to test out things.. bad for complex project

Was fun to grab the Smiley pickups! Some more sounds and information on the controls would really help make this feel a bit more polished, but solid game overall!

Nice and simple game. It was obvious what to do and killing the enemy gave a good feedback. The audio overall was missing other feedback sounds (like shooting, hitting). I find it also annoying that some triangles appear right next to you. The shot itself was missing feedback.

Nice, simple game. Interesting take on the theme, fun and engaging. Some things to add if you had more time might be another type of enemy or a level system. But overall, very nicely done!

I really loved the way the viruses shattered apart when you destroyed them - Something about that death animation was extremely satisfying :)

Nice and simple. I sort of agree with those takes on Game Maker. Not really sure what it's like now but the way it used to be gave way to weird programming practices and common patterns were difficult to implement.

@cornflowerblue with the limited knowledge in GameMaker.. after programming with unity, godot. i felt GML itself like visual programming.. but good for hypercasual games as GameMaker build size is very less.

Cool Game. Like the visuals, artstyle and the screen shake with every hit. Would have liked to have WASD-support, because the Arrwkays on my laptop suck :D. Some Menu, were you see your Highscore would have been nice as well. Overall Good Job!

Good game, and fun to play, a plus if it was a little harder, but well done

Well, it's a functioning top down shooter, but it doesn't do anything interesting.

Well, I could shoot triangles using greater equals and smiles, and actually a could mechanics implemented are quite nice. But, the game was not really committive and I needed to use fantasy to make association red triangles = fake news. Imho this lacked a bit of context.
Furthermore the jam them was not precisely matched.
Anyway I had my time shooting my way out of triangles until the moment I tried to act big collecting a loooooot of triangles before shooting them at once but I got overwhelmned :)

Interesting idea. I like the twin stick shooter genre. Interesting to see where you guys can go from here.

Decent start to a geometry wars clone, art was ok, killing enemies feels good, the sound and screen shake make it feel good.

I think music would go a long way, and powerups felt a little bit too shortlived, but they were nice while they lasted.

Enemies were a little boring, some variety could help and maybe some different behaviour, projectiles, movement etc could really spice them up, particularly it would be nice if they got faster and more aggressive as time passed.

Overall decent submission, there's a working game prototype which is great, just needed a little more stuff inside it to make it shine, good work!
