The voice acting and comedy elevates this haha. I wish the controls were a lot tighter though, the platforming is a bit of a slog with these floaty controls.

Very inspired voice acting! Very tight controls, brutal variations, it definitely gives me Rogue Legacy vibes.

I really enjoyed the visuals, theme, and voice acting. Only problems I had was how easy it is to get hit multiple times without ever touching the ground and how you can get dinged constantly by some of the effects just pushing you into something when it starts. The platformer controls felt good though.

Y'know, it's a rare thing to say the voice acting is one of the best things about a game. But it definitely makes this one stand out, and it just wouldn't be the same without it.

That's not to say the other aspects aren't good of course. The controls and aesthetics are lovely, and the effects kept me guessing. It managed to pull out a few new ones just when I thought I'd seen them all.

I have to admit though, I got shamefully annoyed at some points. The beginning of the final segment in particular gave me a lot of trouble. I'm also kind of disappointed we didn't get a return of the dark lord at the end to chide me out for actually stealing his token. But for a game jam, you kind of have to expect that.

Overall though, it was a positive experience. Well done.

damn the voice acting is perfect :ok_hand:

i think it might've been better to show subtitles since the state change relies on you understanding what was said :p

okay honestly i really tried to get past the first stage but i consistently kept dying from spikes everywhere, greed and bat frenzy :| really wish it gave me some warning of what was happening next because spikes everywhere causes spikes to be directly underneath my feet -_-. plus the lack of invincibility frames did not help o3o

but honestly with the sheer variety of effects i think it can really make for a fun and chaotic experience and what the golf-level humour, and the voice acting is genuinely really funny. the tutorial and particle effects are also really well done.

(also fyi thank you so much for your clickteam tutorials!!!!! in fact the game i submitted this time around is also in clickteam. your platformer tutorial was probably what made most of my games platformers ahah. and good job on your game! :D)

@frozedon

Thank you for playing. I agree, the game can totally smoke you for the slightest mistake. If I were to release a post jam version, which I may, I will make sure to add some extra invincibility frames.

@mistercheezymoon Thank you for playing my entry. My voice was pretty hoarse by the time I was finished. I was really channeling my inner Dragonball on this one. The gameplay needs work, for sure. I didn't really spend much time at all on the levels or tweaking gameplay, regrettably. By the time I had ironed out the last random mode I had maybe 3 hours to crank out content. Thanks again for playing.

@paperaeroplane555 Thanks for your feedback. I agree, the game needs a bit of a buffer between when the next phase is announced and it takes place, as well as some subtitles or text.

Voice acting and art were great! Was a lot of fun. My only critique is that the platformer movement was really floaty and could have been tightened up a bit. Really well done overall though!

@firebelley Thank you for the feedback. Do you think the gravity just needs to be increased a little?
Firebelley
06. Oct 2021 · 01:47 UTC
@almightyzentaco Yeah gravity increase would be good and a quicker deceleration when the player stops moving - I think those two things would really be a good improvement

This game is absolutely fantastic.

I am also really horrible at it. I didn't get very far, but I laughed at every single death. The audio and voice were just too good. The graphics were really great, the effects didn't feel repetitive and were unique in their own right.

This is one of my favorite games of LD49.

@adrenallen Thank you for your kind words. I think I'll post a version after the jam that's cleaned up. The game can be hypothetically beaten, but you have to iron man it. I will add a checkpoint so you don't have to repeat each scene. Thanks for playing!

The voice acting was amazing and really elevated the experience! I liked all the ideas for the chaotic effects although some of them seemed like a death sentence in certain scenarios (looking at you, Floor is Lava). Great work!

@mickyhc Thanks for playing. The skeleton platforms float in lava, so you can usually get to one in time. The pits + super slippery are the worst.

Without doubt the best game I have tried so far. The concept of Unstable is very clear, the commands are well explained, I liked the graphics and it also made me smile. A really great job

First actually funny game we've come across so far. The voice acting was absolutely worth the effort, and the random effects were incredibly entertaining. We couldn't tell if some of the visual assets were stock or not, but regardless they looked very nice. Well done!

Hey, Zentaco! :taco: :yin_yang: Fancy seeing you here.

I'm already familiar with your Clickteam Fusion-tutorials. Appreciate the stuff you've been providing in that department!

---

I tried your game and it's a neat little platforming-experience! The visuals and presentation are well put together, and even more so considering this was supposed to be a COMPO-entry. When it comes to gameplay, the experience can be infuriatingly unfair and difficult though. (I did not make it very far, I think!)

If you'd go and impelement some indicators BEFORE there is going to be a sudden event, the player would be able to react. That way this "chaos"-element **would actually work** beyond from being a zany joke-mechanic that it currently is. But I see you've already discussed this with @paperaeroplane555

Subtitles would also be great, especially since for me all the audio was glitch'd out and couldn't really make sense what was being said. (Probably because I ran the game on Linux using WINE)

The option to skip Game Over-screen and all the little stuff like this would also be preferred.

But I know from experience that it's really hard to give priority to these pesky little details when developing a Jam-game.

---

Good job! I'll gladly return to a Post-JAM version if you're planning to put one out.

@t-r-e-f-e-t-h-e-n Thanks for playing. All of the art was made during the jam. The only thing I did not make was the gui font. Like many jammers I didn't get much sleep.

@dis0rder Thanks for checking out my entry. I totally agree with all of your points. I ended up spending 90% of the time coding and making art/sound. The levels were slapped together with no time for tweaking. A few adjustments to the physics and timing between phases and I think this could be actually fun to play. Thanks again!

The voice acting is amazing! the graphics and gameplay are also nicely made. Well Done. I think the only critcisms I have are, I'm on a German keyboard and so the jump key ('Z') is not easy to press in platformers and also the jump felt a bit floaty.

Most impressive to me is that you made all this alone and how polished it is. As for suggests, I think the shaking is a bit too much, but considering the theme is "unstable", it's understandable. I encountered a bug where I jump and my head hit the floating platform(the first one in the castle) and I die instantly, not sure if that's fixed in the bugfix version. Good job raging taco guy and thanks for your comment.

Hats off to the voice acting!
The character movement could be more responsive, expecially jumping, but for a game developed in 2 days, you did a good job.

Great entry. I have some feedback that might be useful if you don't mind me sharing.
The voice acting was fun, but far too loud compared to everything else. Going straight from only hearing ambience to having very loud voice overs is jarring.
While the individual game elements felt decently polished, the game design as a whole was a bit lacking. As a player, I felt like I was being randomly punished. The controls weren't tight enough for any of the buffs / debuffs to be attached to them, which reduced the playability for me, I think.
To end on a good note, this is still a pretty polished entry and the art and presentation were great. Keep up the good work!

I absolutely loved the idea and the graphics were very good. I must agree with @curdlegames though that the voice was a bit too loud, plus it was a bit annoying that the "game over" scene lasted so long; i would've preferred for it to be shorter and try playing again quicker. It was really funny and had a great mood, plus it was fitting
to the theme!

Overall really solid and fun game! I always enjoy these concepts where the level/area changes randomly, although a little bit of a warning would of been nice as that voice is extremely jarring when it happens. Atmosphere is spot on too, love the eerie basic bleeps.

Overall pretty polished and solid entry, good concepts, overall really well made.
