Unstable Balance by simonkmall

[raw]
made by simonkmall for Ludum Dare 49 (COMPO)

What to do

Try to position the balls perfectly to overcome the instability.

"Challenge your visual judgement and your sense of proportion in this small balancing game!"

How to play

Drag the balls into position with the mouse, then press the "Release" button when you feel confident.

Try to get the maximum win streak you can!

How was it made?

In quite a bit less than 48h. I tried to polish a simple mechanics instead of overcomplicating things. Let me know in the comments what you think - did I succeed?

Clean and simple idea, I like it. I expected the movement to be closer to a common drag n drop. So it took me a couple of failed attempts to get the hang of it. Thank you for the game :)

Well, it's pretty much exactly what it says on the box. The music comes in a bit strong after a failure, maybe smooth it out or just have it keep playing when you lose, and just have some other sound play over it. Minor gripe.

Simple but entertaining. Nice colour choise, and varoety of music is refreshing. Try adding fading for music next time to make it awesome:)
Good luck!

Simple, but very well executed. I liked the mood and look of it. Physics are on point. Overall can't spot any flaws

Pretty fun to play around with! This feels like it could be used as an educational program somehow, hmm...

Nice and simple game. I like that it feels very fair. If it runs out of balance then it felt like I did something wrong and not that the game would be too strict. But I miss some replay-value. You could increase that by adding a simple highscore. E.g. by just displaying the highest score one got during a session.

The idea is good! It's interesting to check my visual analizing skills. The cracking while the music plays is really annoying(

I really liked this game! It does one thing but it does it so well! The only small suggestion I have is maybe show the sliders on top of (or through) the balls, so it's easier to see the range of side-to-side movement you have available even as the size of the balls changes. The level of polish was really nice, and the pace of the game felt just right. Nicely done!

A nice little game! The background music is brilliant and really adds to the feel of the game. I like how the balancing board is also physics based and can also bounce up off the centre. The only thing I disliked was that the larger balls hit the board slightly sooner than the smaller ones making it feel a little unfair that the heavier one always gets to affect the board first. But overall, a nice take on the theme!
