Critical Error by JayJack
You play as Keeko the purple computer virus and infiltrate the system, making it so unstable that it crashes! Overwrite file systems (purple blocks) to respawn from them if you accidentally get deleted!
There are so many things I wanted to do with this game jam but I only had a few hours to work on it. Here is a better idea of the concept with all the stuff I haven't had a chance to implement:
- Any kind of jumping at all
- (Specifically a spring jump toward a cursor the player can aim in any direction)
- Make the computer more progressively unstable as you overwrite the system
- Unlock more powerful hacking abilities in Metroidvania style gameplay
- Way better art, music, effects, and sound effects
- More computer-like aesthetic
- Commentary on bottom of screen as console commands
- Fight pompous Antivirus bosses with hilarious corporate satire
- Travel to other computers using the internet as a hub
- Uncover scandalous secrets hidden in top secret mainframes

Hopefully you pursue this post-jam and add all the features you talk about.
I can see it being a really solid game once you expand on the foundations you have here,
Nice work.
Also loooove the soundtrack!! Give me huge mega-man vibes haha.
The ending part was really difficult, but I managed to get it!!! Well done :)

Nice minimalistic graphics and nice song at least for that short time.
Gameplay was evasive platformer without jumps, not very special that way.
I liked the overall retro mood and the game looked and sounded polished.
It's a bit short, but overall very enjoyable.
One suggestion: don't have the checkpoints in the line of fire. In one of them, I was getting hit by a bullet immediately on respawn.
I like the retro style, it reminds me megaman with visuals and universe. I really appreciate the effort with sound design and music that make your game more immersive! Maybe some situations in level design are too hard but it's a jam, so it's hard to have a balanced result quickly. Also more different type of challenges to surprise players would be great but it's a great job!
Need more levels. I'm waiting for updates))
Know that I have read all cute ideas I'm really wondering what this game could be :)
