Treacherous Tower by Zettabit

[raw]
made by Zettabit for Ludum Dare 49 (COMPO)

Welcome to Treacherous Tower, where you are tasked with building the tallest tower you can. Approach the falling blocks to grab them, then drop them onto the platform below. Be careful not to let them fall into the void. And don't forget to keep your tower stable, because blocks aren't the only thing falling! Can you build all 7 levels without losing too many pieces? reminds me a lot of tetris, nice game!

Using the spaceship was a fresh take on the physics tetris game. It looked nice, and the ship was really satisfying to control. I would've liked to see some difficulty scaling (like the timer getting shorter and shorter), but other than that it was a lot of fun to play.

Wow, inverse tetris? This game is simply amazing. It's thematic, fun to play, the visuals are fresh and music is not repetitive, this game is everything you need for a great jam game. I love how you have to live with the choices you've made in the previous rounds and adapt to them. I really don't know how could this game be better. Only minor bug I've encountered was when I had the platform a bit too tilted, so the blocks were sliding super slowly down and I had to wait for very long time for the scoring. Other than that, perfect game, I really enjoyed playing it.

As someone who loves Tricky Towers, I appreciate this little game. Tetris with physics, good implementation of the theme. The graphics are both colorful and _easy to read_. Enjoyed it!

Love the idea. I did run into an issue with blocks not quite settling but I was cheesing the game a bit ;P Really well done!

This is fantastic and unbelievably good. At one point, the whole pile yeeted upwards and the level became end on. Haven't laughed this hard in a while.

Holy crap, this is such a good game. It appears my ship got stuck inside one of the beams and wouldn't continue, but I will definitely be back to play this game more!

Great concept!

I found it a bit slow, but other than that, the game is really interesting! The music is cool and the physics are really neat.

Great job!

6963. An improvement on tetris in my opinion! I found that by blocking the sides off early on, I could easily build up without risk (solongs I was quick enough to grab each piece).

I enjoyed playing the game 👍🏻

This is excellent. The drone works perfectly, and the physics makes it really challenging. Also, the pressure of needing to catch the blocks quickly makes the experience more fun.
I tested and review the game in this video: https://youtu.be/s4yliNM61Xw

I loved this take on the classic; I'm also very frustrated and I hate you at the same time.

I think this game really embodies exactly what this theme was about.
My only criticism is that sometimes it felt a little unfair when the beam dropped and everything exploded. I think it would make sense to have the blocks snap into place, count the score, then drop the beam. I understand that the beam dropping and everything scattering plays more into the theme, so maybe there's a common middle-ground somewhere there?

Either way, I think it was fantastically frustrating!

Had to come check out your game since you mentioned it being similar to what I did. Neat take on the theme! I did run into a bug at the end of the 2nd stage where it just didn't progress, though:

Really cool game! I think this is a good example of a game that takes the theme to heart and runs with it! The graphics and audio are effective with a uniform style. Small details like the font choices, and the way each round is scored is visually satisfying. The addition of particle effects on the space ship is nice, adding movement while not being distracting to the gameplay. Really awesome and polished especially for a compo game! Great job!
