Gameplay

Gameplay Spoilers: First, your permanent platforms start to crumble. Then, the walls give way while dead-pixels fill your screen. Even your character isn't immune to the madness. By level 11, the game has fully broken down and you play like this for as long as possible. There are bits of story sprinkled throughout, all the way to level 300+.

How far can you get? Post your highest level reached in the comments

Level 2, 24 plattforms. Funny take on the Theme. At one point almost the whole screen was filled with plattforms, because I am bad at Plattformers. Nice Game.

Cool game! Played around 10 minutes, but couldn't make it through :(
Your game is matching the theme really nice.
Mecahnics are simple enough, but can be abused in some way.
But still very simple and cute. Love it!

Awesome game, launched from smartphone to check if it supports mobile devices... And it supports. Post it to google play market/apple store.

This feels very complete, but I'm terrible at platformers so didn't get far. I love the sounds and the sprites are cute. The jump feels fun.

The game is pretty fun to play, really. The background and style is amazing for this 8-bit game.
There probably should be more dangerous stuff for the player, but ,probably, I simply didn't reach those in my play.

Very nice game, starts easy and becomes much more difficult when platforms vanish. Good job!

I always look for other Pico-8 games! This was a cool take on the theme. I only made it to level 8 but I liked where things were going! The jumping felt good and being able to manipulate the speed of the platforms was helpful and added some strategy. I enjoyed your use of the glyphs for simple graphics.

I finished level 8.
Simple but new mechanics is nice.
I thought it was too easy at first, but it so fun after adding objects time limit.

I reached level 31, with 142 platforms touched. I wonder if that is a respectable score :id:

I think this game was really cool. The tutorial was nice, introducing things one-by-one, and with a little story in the background. There were two little points of feedback I had of the tutorial though. The first is that it was not clear to me that I should be going up. I thought I was just trying to survive fro as long as possible. I figured it out in the end :) Another point is that fact that I could not continue from where I died during the tutorial. I could either start from the beginning, or skip the tutorial entirely. I think it would have been nice if I just respawned at the level I was during the tutorial level. Although I can completely understand if you disagree with me on this one! :P

The gameplay itself was great! I really liked the simple, yet engaging gameplay. There is often this struggle of staying on a breaking platform a bit longer, or trying to make this really hard jump. This was fun :D I also think pico8 games are in general really impressive because you have to make everything from the ground up. Great job :D

Thanks again everyone

@lonewookie I agree & will get working on some music soon :musical_note:

@wuppos wow! thank you for the feedback -- I will add a note about traveling up and consider what to do about respawning during the tutorial. I agree that it would be annoying to have to keep replaying those sections... but I dont think the tutorial should have different rules than the main game. Perhaps I could make the starting platform much larger for the tutorial levels.

*"There is often this struggle of staying on a breaking platform a bit longer, or trying to make this really hard jump."* Yes! You really hit the nail on the head here.

Btw Level 31 is a great run :D

Thanks for another PICO-8 game. The game is oddly addicting just jumping from one platform to another while going up. It also reminds me of doodle jump a little bit. The game would feel more polished with better artwork and music. You did have some music in the title screen though. I thought the title screen and ending screen looked pretty cool with the glitch sort of effects.

Cool game. Good take on the theme! I like the way the game progresses. I especially like how platforms start to disappear as you go on. Of course after you get past a certain point it gets repetitive. Maybe if you introduced another obstacle or platforms moving in different directions. Other than that, I had a fun time playing! Great submission.

Level 15, and 116 platforms.

A stressful game that fits the theme well.
