The mecanichs is simple, but very efficient.
Well done on this game, I really appreciate it.
There really isn't much I can say, for something made during a jam this hit's all the spots. if there was a post jam version I'd love to see smoother experience in some areas as in the camera would follow the player sudo-automatically, the player had some less finicky pathing, and maybe an ingame tutorial. but really that fluff that does not need to be there at all. fantastic job!
@randomphantom - Awesome, thank you so much! We're so glad somebody got to see the ending XD
@tardif-adrian - thank you for such warm comments!
@ltyrosine - Thanks! We're super proud of of how much we embraced the theme! Glad you were able to figure out the difficulty!
@thiago-nascimento - OMG you are so kind T_T We were so nervous going into this jam, we're really glad you like it!
@str8griz - haha, poor Radish Kid! Glad you liked it!
@simex - Thank you so much! We totally agree, there were so many quick decisions we had to make for the sake of time. If we were to make this a bigger game, there's a lot of big improvements we could do. Making this really reminded us of early physics Flash games!
@animalx - Wow, you made it! That's so impressive haha. We weren't sure how hard we tuned this game. we got so good playing it all weekend as we were making it.
@yokin - Awesome! We put a lot of work into Radish Kid's AI. Glad they were able to find their way for you.
@domin77 - Wow thank you so much! It makes us so happy to read this. we had no idea how well our game would come out.
Edit: I incorrectly referred to your radish as a turnip, I apologise.
@jaybaus - ahh thank you! We're glad Radish Kid actually did what you wanted, we worked hard on that! Also, pretty sure radishes and turnips are the same fruit, so you're good 😜
this one is my favourite game in the jam so far... the story is awesome the mood is great the mechanics and innovation is on point! i love it i love the visuals i love the feel and i think its highly extendable!
@cobyw - We're really glad you figured out there was an ending. We realize we didn't teach a lot of stuff very well. Time was really short haha.
@tykenn - aww thank you! We're really proud of how well we divided work with two people to get a polished feeling game!
@destroyertech - Thank you!
@jessefreeman - Thank you! We definitely had a fun discussion about what we would do if we grew this game into something bigger. lots of potential here!
It's arguable whether this is unstable though, given how stable the construction materials were, but I'm being pedantic here.
The entire game was simply relaxing and a lot of fun. The audio, art and the gameplay were all tied well together. Really nicely done!
It's a bit challenging, but not too challenging. I think it could be a fun physics/puzzle plat-former.
I think the physics is a little unpredictable in this though.
Very nicely done.
As far as feedback goes, I only have two thoughts:
- The AI pathfinding can get a bit difficult at times. Which is to be expected with this amount of physics puzzling going on. There were lots of times that I started spamming items hoping the lil turnip would figure out that they should really not be so picky about where I put the board and start moving cause there's a dang earthquake nipping at their heels
- The items themselves could do with some theming that fits the turnip and his journey. At this point they feel a little random and don't really gel with the rest of the aesthetic, but at least they translate to the player immediately what they're functions are so it's hard to say exactly what you could do to make them fit better. Maybe just keeping with the plant theme? Using garden trellises instead of ladders, use beanstalks. I'm not 100% on the solutions but it's something to consider!
You guys should be really proud of this entry! It's super well done and I'd play more of this if you make a full version.
@hinesite Hahah this was the exact reaction we were looking for with that ending! Thanks for playing <3
@deprecat Such great feedback! Totally agree that the build items could be more in theme. With more time it would have been fun to add more types of animations/states to the character so they emotionally react to the instability/earthquake. Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback, super appreciate it!
For accessibility's sake I'd recommend trying to implement some alternative controls -- I'm just imagining people trying to play this on a macbook or something with no external mouse (so no middle mouse button and no easy scroll wheel for rotation). Is there a reason that the pan camera shortcut couldn't just be mapped to right-click instead of middle click? I actually ended up using the arrow keys / WASD instead to move the view around because middle-clicking caused the entire itch page to scroll as well (unless I entered fullscreen mode).
The only thing that I would like is just a small indicator that points to the sky and indicates where is the goal.
Really good entry!
@dgspitzer - Thank you! we definitely had bridge building games in mind when we were making this
@hermeses - Thanks! We also wish we could have done more interesting level(s). We spent all of our time just getting the base rules working, we had to cut ourselves off. Wanting more is a good thing, though! We're really proud and super glad you liked it.
@elazulus - thank you for being so kind!
@glaciereclipse - that's awesome, we're glad the game is interesting to look at. We think that's super important for a good game, so that's always something we try to do. We totally agree with the final goal indicator - there were lots of little things about the game that are confusing that we just failed to explain.
There would be sounds, but the mechanics here are just epic so i could not be missing anything else in current game play. These should be more levels, was really fun to play. This would be like a really fun game to play by all kids. Stairways to garden growing above the skies. Awesome! And all in 72 hours.
@knipsch - Thank you! We really did so many new things, we're so happy you think it came out well.
@hiisileiri - Really good ideas! We totally wanted to explore more in terms of challenge, levels, and progression - but this is as much as we could finish in time. Glad you liked it! Thanks <3
@frozendoze - Aww, thank you!
@lelulagames - ooh good catch! what a strange bug haha
@mscarrotcake - Aww thank you! I guess we're fans of cute but complicated emotions, haha
@publicidadeba - Haha, we're just glad we got something finished. Some of the other games submitted are unbelievable. It would be a real treat if people noticed and played our game. though! <3
I also think I encountered a bug? [https://imgur.com/a/fOcCvms](https://imgur.com/a/fOcCvms) even though the earthquake line was above my structure, it stayed intact? Also my radish pal wasn't able to ascend even though there's a clear path up.
Nonetheless congrats, you two should be proud!
Congratulations to everyone involved!
