I love the tiny details, like the eyes on the shapes blinking! It's super cute, and the game was really well made. great work.
It gets surprisingly hard early on and keeps on being fun - simple idea with nice payoff. The only small annoyance with it I have is the player behaviour when being hit. It can often throw you right into large groups without a real chance of breaking out again, which results in a loop of getting hit over and over. Sparkles ~★
Music is very groovy, I dont agree that it needs a melody to be effective.
Just one thing (but I know is asked for a lot in a game jam game ...) the instructions were much more complicated than the game itself. I think if you would introduce the colours one-by-one these instructions would not even be necessary.
Also, it felt like the effects of the red and blue particles was less noticable. maybe if you made holding the beam have differet effects as well it would have been more interesting (e.g. the red beam makes you move faster).
Otherwise the game was great!
Overall I had a lot of fun! Played 5 times! I was a little confused as to why I was able to turn off the beam. There didn't seem any benefits unless I missed something, for example I didn't move faster or anything. Was there a meta-strategy to that ability that I missed out on, and if so I wish there was something guiding me to how I would use it.
I also wish the green particle decayed into like half as many pieces - my best runs were always when I just stuck to the green beam once I had gotten far enough, so I think reducing how many particles green breaks down into would have extended the period where I'm actively trying to change my beam color.
Great work team!
Well done!
I liked the gameplay. The visuals and sound were great (a damage sound would have been nice), and stuck around playing it for a decent amount of time.
Some things that maybe you could improve upon would be the movement. I think it feels a bit floaty. Also sometimes the beam thingy went kinda wack if your cursor got too close.
It was a nice challenge, that I enjoyed playing!
Being able to change your 'weapon' was a really cool feature and I liked that part a lot as well :3
It sounds great and its really cute to look at and overall I think its pretty fun. Good job everyone, thanks for submitting it for me to try out <3
