Fission Friends!

Controls: - Move: W/A/S/D - Aim: Mouse
- Deactivate Beam: Click

How To Play:

Avoid getting hit while using your fission beam to slow down the unstable particles and accelerate their breakdown process. Step into the energy wells to change your beam color; the beam does more damage to particles of matching color.

Particle Types:

  • Red: Volatile, fast movement
  • Yellow: Slow breakdown process
  • Green: Creates many smaller particles

I REALLY like this concept and execution. The sounds and overall feel are satisfying, the graphics are delightful, and after I picked up on the color-matching to do more damage I had a lot of fun playing this :) Great entry!

WOW! I clicked on this game because the graphics are so cute and right up my alley :) I was very confused with the rules at first but after I got into it a bit it became super addicting! amazing work!

Awesome game, the mechanics are cool, but it gets really hard fast. The sounds are cool but when you have a lot of enemies it becomes a little bit overused and chaotic. Great work!

The artwork is super adorable! I love how quickly the game goes from calm to entirely out of hand, it's a very great use of the theme! I was only able to get around 200 points on my best run, but I had a lot of fun with this. I think the music was a good fit too, though it could benefit from having a melody.

I love the tiny details, like the eyes on the shapes blinking! It's super cute, and the game was really well made. great work.

Wow great game! Fun to play. The only think which I think could be better was the beam control. The beam sometimes jumps from one side to another because of the free mouse move. You could have hid the mouse pointer and just control the beam based on mouse rotation or something like that. Anyhow, great idea and gameplay.

I love the look of the game, and it's super fun too! I found it hard to keep track of my position while pointing the beam at the particles, but I guess that's the point :P The different particle types are so cool -- if you leave the red ones unattended it gets chaotic very quickly.

Very fun and cute game! Loved the animation with the little sparkles when they break down (ノ>ω<)ノ。*・゚’★
It gets surprisingly hard early on and keeps on being fun - simple idea with nice payoff. The only small annoyance with it I have is the player behaviour when being hit. It can often throw you right into large groups without a real chance of breaking out again, which results in a loop of getting hit over and over. Sparkles ~★

Music is very groovy, I dont agree that it needs a melody to be effective.

Absolutely in love with the Pikuniku styled graphics! very cool concept also, with a little polish to the controls could be an awesome game. Great results guys! :D

The graphics is lovely and the game is really fun to play! well done :)
Just one thing (but I know is asked for a lot in a game jam game ...) the instructions were much more complicated than the game itself. I think if you would introduce the colours one-by-one these instructions would not even be necessary.

It took me a while to get into it, but I and fun once I did. Loved the art style. I think you could ease in the difficulty a bit to allow the player to get a bit more comfortable with the controls. I would have liked to have a bit more variation in the sounds as well. After a while it was just constant boops. Overall, nice work!

The game can be quite difficult! but the difficulty is expected! I have to constantly anticipate my movement and choosing keeping my beam on or off while moving. The game challenges my decision making and left hand movement! Great!

Nice game! I don't know why you would want to disabel the beam, and at first I thought I had to hold the mouse buttons to activate the beam.
Also, it felt like the effects of the red and blue particles was less noticable. maybe if you made holding the beam have differet effects as well it would have been more interesting (e.g. the red beam makes you move faster).
Otherwise the game was great!

Fast and fun, with very appealing graphics and sounds. I didn't pick up on the beam color thing at first, but it makes sense and adds complexity. I don't know why you'd ever want to turn the beam off - am I right on that? Neat take on the theme, fun little game.

I didn't understand why I could disable the beam, but once I figured out the game I could manage myself better. I liked it but it gets very hard very fast haha

Beautiful to look at!! Such pretty art. Audio was rockin too - was there something dynamic going on? Couldn't tell what but felt like something more complex than just looping a track was going on, which was nice. Gameplay was chaotic, and I think the enemies decaying into smaller and faster pieces really nailed the theme if instability in an unexpected way!

Overall I had a lot of fun! Played 5 times! I was a little confused as to why I was able to turn off the beam. There didn't seem any benefits unless I missed something, for example I didn't move faster or anything. Was there a meta-strategy to that ability that I missed out on, and if so I wish there was something guiding me to how I would use it.

I also wish the green particle decayed into like half as many pieces - my best runs were always when I just stuck to the green beam once I had gotten far enough, so I think reducing how many particles green breaks down into would have extended the period where I'm actively trying to change my beam color.

Great work team!

The game looks and sounds great, and if you wait a bit after the game ends, you'll hear a Geiger counter. Well done guys!

Very on theme. Music and art is awesome. Outright adorable. It's as stressful as asteroids, until I realised survive longer by just hiding in the bottom right corner.

Wow! Really fun, and a neat concept. I found that green was really overwhelming at the end to the point I felt I needed to have the green beam at all times, but then the red ones got me anyway!

Well done!

This was a fun game :)
I liked the gameplay. The visuals and sound were great (a damage sound would have been nice), and stuck around playing it for a decent amount of time.
Some things that maybe you could improve upon would be the movement. I think it feels a bit floaty. Also sometimes the beam thingy went kinda wack if your cursor got too close.
It was a nice challenge, that I enjoyed playing!

Adorable! I love the sound design, the graphics, the font choice - it's all super duper cute. The way things spiral out of control quickly really sells your take on the theme. I think I would have preferred if things ramped up a little slower (so I had more time to feel in-control) but that's just a nitpick. The character design reminds a bit of Baba Is You. Love it!

I really love how adorable everything is! A bit more variation on particle types would be nice but not really needed. I'm terrible at games like this so I wasn't able to get very far but the mechanics feel pretty solid \o/

Being able to change your 'weapon' was a really cool feature and I liked that part a lot as well :3

It sounds great and its really cute to look at and overall I think its pretty fun. Good job everyone, thanks for submitting it for me to try out <3

Nice art and feedback. I had fun trying to figure out how to get out of a corner when I had the wrong color beam.
