Sliced Ice

screenshot.png

You are skating on thin ice - literally. If the groove you carve in the ice crosses itself, it will cut a chunk of ice free. Be careful not to fall in! That said, if you meet any unsavoury characters, you could use this to your advantage...

Controls: WASD or Arrow keys

When all the enemies on a given level are defeated, the right-hand gate will open and you can go through it to the next level. The levels beyond level 3 are randomly generated and go on forever.

Known Issues

  • Splashes aren't rendered properly
  • ~~The game crashes when defeating multiple enemies~~ FIXED

Tools

  • Made with the macroquad game engine for Rust, using also the polygon2 library for polygon triangulations and collision testing
  • Images made with Gimp
  • Unfortunately I didn't have time to add any sound

Neat idea for the looping, reminds me of that one caterpillar game from a few jams ago!
I'd love to see this updated with checkpoints after each completed level! :)

Neat idea! Good difficulty progression. The fish moving under the ice is a cool visual effect.

Nice game, took me a few goes to realise the gate was open on level 0 but other than that no issues.

Fun game! Checkpoints would be nice. I finally beat level 5 but somehow got it to crash. Looking through the error logs I saw that you're using rust + wasm under the hood. Neat!

Ah thanks for letting me know, I probably missed that due to not reaching that point since I am bad at my own game :P. I think I've found the problem (I was removing elements from a list while iterating through it leading to an index out of bounds), but I'm going to wait until I figure out how to fix the bug in my water shader before I upload a fix.

A fun game, although the it crashed (window went completely black) when I circled both enemies simultaneously on level 5.

The game has a nice idea behind it and was fun to play. Went to up to level 7.

Being a traffic cone with ice skates on my …feet, fighting robots with my free skating dance choreography is definitely a setting that I haven't seen yet!

A few points to improve
- I was skating for several minutes in the first level until I realized that the gate is already open. I expected the actual gate to lift.
- The skating felt a little slow or dragging. It might be more realistic as you have it, but a faster pace could have been more fun maybe
- a simple music would have gone a long way. Especially a slow waltz or so. (I somehow have the dancy figureskater image in my head…)

Nice mechanics, but something is missing. Maybe you need better graphics, and maybe additional mechanics.
