The Language of the Gods by ladybenko
OK, so this theme gave me an idea for a game I really liked but it was clearly out of the scope for a jam. Nevertheless, I wanted to do a prototype to try out graphics, the mood, and the atmosphere of the game. The idea was to have a more story-heavy entry, but you can only do so much with 48…
I will write a post-mortem in the next few days, so stay tuned! :)
UPDATE:
- Put the mirror at itch.io as the main link / embed source for this entry.
POST-COMPO BUGFIXES:
The rules allow for some simple bugfixing or game crashing bugs. These are the fixings I made:
- Fixed 1st puzzle to be completed accidentally because it was just only one note. Now it is too. Diff with the patch here (https://github.com/belen-albeza/ldjam-36/commit/c2e267151c62689fe93851f9f855823289522937)
- Fixed spelling in one the strings in the game. Diff with the patch here (https://github.com/belen-albeza/ldjam-36/commit/be91c11bde02375e4033932d7ccb52bfcdd4708a)

Aside from that, can I ask what program/language you used to make this? I love pixelated games and I try to make my own, but my process seems to be inefficient and slow, and I cannot make web games.
Thank you for your time, and good work on this LD entry!
I think this might certainly be worth pursuing after the jam to see where it might go.
I definitely got one of the patterns wrong and was still able to progress, though.
That the game was so short and that there was not explanation to what was happening (or what that other voice was) takes the overall experience down a bit.
Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description.
Definetely will play a full version of the game, I'm curious about what happened to the guy, where is he and what are those artifacts.
Good job!
Step sounds are a bit annoying though
I think the music could have been improved, for me it felt a little to simple and the loop was quite noticeable, more variation could have been added into it, but the style of it was great.
Overall great and polished entry, especially with the pixelated art and the whole vibe of the game. (By the way, I will try out that colour palette you used, it looks really sweet. ;D)
I mean if you want to go on with the game then thats great as well. But I like the end. It connects so much with the gamejam. Maybe you could make some more levels (especially the riddles, I love them) but keep the ending.
In the end its your decision. Thanks for making this game i really enjoyed it! ;)
Nice entry! :)
P.S. I read your blog posts about this jam, good stuff. Saludos!
