Chrys by sepharoth213
Fight off the endless onslaught of soldiers as Chrys, and try to kill as many of them as possible while staying alive!
Everything you need to know is covered in-game, but here is some more explanation:
Arrow keys to move, Z to jump, X to attack
OR
WASD to move, K to jump, J to attack
(or if you're using Colemak like me, I have a special layout for that! 4FPG to move, E to jump, N to attack)
Attacks are based on the direction you hold, so holding DOWN and pressing attack results in the down-ground attack. There is a different set of attacks in the air, however.
In game, you get a point for killing soldiers, but you DON'T get points for hitting them while they're already in the air.
You lose health every time you get hit by a bullet, but you can recover health by hitting enemies. You recover MORE health based on two things: how many times the specific enemy has been hit, and how strong the attack you are using is. Red attacks give you about 10x the health as normal attacks, so make sure to finish your combos with them!
If you're getting stuck at really low scores, try this (relatively) easy health combo:
Down-ground, up-ground, forward-air
It doesn't net you a ton of health, but it gets you started understanding some of the crazier things you can do with Chrys. If you've got the hang of it, try landing one of these:
Down-ground, neutral-ground, up-ground, up-air, neutral-air, forward-ground
Pretty tricky! Keep in mind that soldiers give you more health the darker they are, but once you've hit them 5 times, the rewards level out.
I'll leave the rest to you to figure out. Have fun, and thanks for checking out my entry!
If you are having too much trouble, but you still want to see what the game has to offer, I've added a quick video of me playing through the game a couple times. Enjoy!
This was made using Haxe and Lime. The graphics were made with GraphicsGale, and the music was created and recorded on a Game Boy Color using LSDJ.

- looks pretty cool
- music is nice
- it seems there are quite a few interesting combinations available
The nay:
- couldn't quite get the grasp of controls; even the suggested combo didn't quite work out
- got stuck on 400-ish score :<
Overall, I think I'd prefer watching someone more skilled play the game to playing it myself. ^^"
I don't know how hard it would be to implement, but I think controlling the attacks with the mouse would be nice.
A little more time to read the instructions would be nice, I was killed before I could finish reading them :D.
Great job on the music!
