It would be great to see a post-jam version with a bit more variety to the enemies, and a steeper difficulty curve.
I like the weapon upgrades, the missiles felt responsive and packed a punch.
I love the water textures and red texture on loss.
Nothing really innovative here, but its executed tightly and it controls smoothly and thats not easy to pull off in such a short jam.
Nice work!
- I managed to click into the [I] menu and somehow flip the game state to be paused when out of the menu and active in the menu! not sure how I did it.
Either way, this was a fun one. Nice work!
I did notice a bug with the shop menu which is opened with the ( I ) key. If you hit escape to exit the shop it unpauses the game, but leaves the shop open and things get a bit funky. I also think it might have been a bit easy and maybe a bit long, But overall I loved it. One of my favorites so far! If i had to change it at all I would make it shorter but harder. Although I must say the meter rolling over to 9999 was a great touch that was what kept me going.
I unfortunately managed to get into a buggy situation where the "w" key stopped working and I was no longer able to navigate the sub back up anymore (possibly from hitting escape when in the shop menu to try to close it?). Otherwise everything worked really well and I had a lot of fun with it. Nice work!
I definitely missed some more things to buy... but that's something that can be added later, and the core is really good. Many kudos. Good job!
I did found it a little easy, and that the middle of the game was actually harder than the final boss. The store operated for me as a short of *get out of jailed free card* because I was always able to have enough scrap to stay alive indefinitely, so long as I was fast on the **I** Key. Maybe the shop can only be accessed at certain depth ranges?
The guidance system for the torpedoes made them worse to use than the aqua rockets, but I will say those aqua rockets :rocket: were my jam. :ok_hand: I could see a lot of interesting weapons devised in a submarine game.
**Bug Report** Pressing ESC key while in the shop menu will unpause the game but not take you out of the shop leaving you blinded by the menu.
Thanks for the game!
My only complaint is no checkpoints, being sent to start is a bit harsh for LD game where most players will want to explore levels (very nice atmospheric background change on going deeper btw) and often can't invest much time into the game. But that complaint is due to the fact that I liked the game very much.
