Umbra by Zettabit

[raw]
made by Zettabit for Ludum Dare 48 (COMPO)

You play a thief venturing deeper and deeper into a castle in search of treasure. Jump from wall to wall to make it through the castle. Avoid patrolling guards on your path to riches. LD48Area2.png

Didn't realize Unity's 2D light system doesn't work in HTML5 games, so no HTML5 version because the lights are necessary to see the enemies' field of view. If anyone knows a workaround please let me know.

Thanks for playing and I hope you have fun.

Update: Fixed a bug that sometimes caused the player to skip rooms. Update2: Added a fullscreen toggle to the main menu.

This has been the best game I have played so far today. I love the combination of stealth and speed that is used in this game. It just feels really good to play. Also, the music and graphics are both awesome.
I did notice that a guard looked directly at me once and didn't catch me, but that may have been a one-time thing.
Overall, great job. This game was really neat.

I like the idea of controlling a sentient sword and zipping around the world! You strike a good balance between stealth and quickly getting around. There was one level where you had to wait for a guard to get near a spot, but not enough to see you, before you could proceed. That kinda slowed things down a bit, compared to the speed of the rest of the game. This could become a really fun game with some good polish and structure. Great work!

Hey this is a solid entry. Kind of felt like very a simplified minigolf. It was a bit too easy to just blast through the whole game quickly, and I had expected to be able to stab things (given that I was a sword), but all in all I think it's a well rounded and decently polish experience for a jam entry.

Nice! Really solid core gameplay, some fun levels, great art style, decent audio. All round great entry, really enjoyable. I think it could turn into a great full game with more time to flesh it out and refine the mechanics.

Love to see such a polished game! Simple but great idea and amazing implementation, but maybe doesn't really fit the theme)
My recomendations would be to make game harder, it probably too easy. You can add clicks counter to challange the player. Also game being windowed, sometimes I was clicking outside)

A very good entry, I really liked the pixel art in the game, and the levels that are fun to play, it is very polished, I think it would make a very good mobile game, very well done, keep up the good work!

Very interesting and beautiful game. I went to the end, but why I can't turn it on full screen?

Cool game. I like how it looks and how you highlight areas that should be used with light.

Rotating close to wall is a bit hard sometimes, as you are not allowed to rotate into wall.

Great game, would be awesome if you could knock out enemies. But the movement was so fun!

Really cool game. Add some combat and maybe some walls that you can't jump to and you got yourself a really neat game.

I really liked this game. It reminded me of a stealth game I played years ago. This one had a unique take on the movement since I was propeling myself forward in the direction and didn't have as much control on where I would end up. I could just suggest where I wanted to go.

I didn't get the theme very much in the game. I did see a few sets of stairs, but mostly I was staying on the same level and going aroundt that floor.

Great job on the save function for the game. When I make a mistake and get spotted I got to start at the begining of the room instead of having to start all over again. It made a great touch.

When I got to the end of the game and a Victory Screen appeared I was confused on what came next. I had the option to retry or quit. I choose retry out of habit thinking that I had been seen. After that point I tried returning to the stairs but nothing triggered. I then tried to go backwards through everying the way someone would in the Ultimate Goose Game, but it didn't work very well.

For a LD game this is really polished and well done.

Congratulations!

Congratulations on your game, the mechanics are very good, my suggestion for future upgrades would be to put objects to collect during each room to be able to move on to the next one, and maybe add a regressive time to finish too, a big hug, and I await your evaluations regarding my game.

This is a very cool game. It was a shame I couldn't kill the guards but other than that, the art was cool!

I really like the base mechanic for this game. As others have mentioned, it would be nice if items were added or some way to dispose of the guards. Only issue I had was the awkwardness of trying to turn on the walls. Otherwise this was a fun little game! Great job!
