Deep Dive in Hyperspace by TaliOS

Avoid obstacles while flying through space at hyperspeed ! Made in 10h for Ludum Dare 48 !
Controls
- Move: Arrow keys
- Dash: X key
Tips
- Every 25 seconds, the speed will go up and the difficulty will increase !
- You can use your dash to destroy asteroids in your way ; however, the red projectiles will still damage you during your dash !
- Destroying more than one asteroid in a single dash will award you with one extra hit point !
- Your total combo count is tracked throughout the game, so try to get as many as you can !
Development
I didn't feel inspired at all during the weekend, until I finally was, 10 hours before the end of the compo. So this game is pretty rushed and definitely still needs some more time in the oven, but I hope you can still have somewhat of an enjoyable time with it !

But, the floaty controls make the rest of the game a little hard to deal with. This game is sort of a reverse-bullet-hell and in most bullet hells you have *super* precise controls ... maybe take a page out of their book.
Other than that, this was quite nice. Maybe add some kind of mechanic where you have to build up your dash over time, so you have to alternate between dodging and smashing through asteroids?
I liked the retro style of the game - I suppose that kind of comes with the PICO8  The entry seemed well polished especially for a relatively short time frame
I hope you'll drop by mine and give it a spin

While I'm here, before the jam I answered a question here on the Feed regarding "inspiration/role-models".
I cited your game "One Jump Ninja" made for GMTK game jam.

It really helped the way I approach game jams, and level design overall, so thanks!

The artwork and little particle effects are great.
Originally wanted the controls to feel a little tighter (less swimmy) but after getting used to it (and dashing around more) it all works together well!
Good job!
Simple concept well-executed. For a 10h jam I wasn't even expecting more than 1 obstacle type of the speed-ups every so often.
stage 7 reminded me a bit of the vvvvvv gravitron
nice work! love to see pico-8 games :D
✔️ I really liked the combo system to regain lives, this was a nice touch that added some risk vs reward.
✔️ Good difficulty curve and length.
➖ Maybe one more obstacle type could have been nice.
The parallax scrolling gives you a really good sense of speed increasing through the levels and adds a nice level of polish.
I really loved the multicolour trail coming out of the ship too, just looked really great!
I like the gameplay a lot, everything is very well designed and put together. I especially love the dash mechanic as it added a new flair to the classic side-scrolling arcade-y movement. The graphics and SFX are juicy, with good feedback on what is happening at all times. Very neat, polished experience.
If you're looking to keep working on it, I think an "endless" mode would be a great addition, as I could see myself playing this nonstop
