Welcome to Truck or Pupper!

Thanks for joining the company! As you know, we are a start-up developing our brand new app "Truck or Pupper" to explore the yet-untapped market of differentiating Puppers from Trucks. For this, we are using the latest, state-of-the-art technology: Neural Networks!

As the sole Data Scientist in the company, your goal is to maximize the Accuracy of the Neural Network. To do so, you will need to annotate Data, and improve the Network.

Collecting Data is done on the right. A panel displays pictures of Trucks and Puppers, along with a Prompt and a "VALIDATE" button. To annotate 1 data, you will need to select all the pictures corresponding to the Prompt, and then press the button.

Improving the Network is done on the left. A second panel shows you the current architecture. Blocks of Neural Network Units are introduced at the top, and you must place them to build the Network. A unit is moved with the left/right/down arrow keys, and rotated with the up arrow/shift keys. Pressing space automatically lowers the unit to the bottom. Whenever a Layer (horizontal line of Units) is completed, the Network improves, and the Layer is hidden from the display. To make your task easier, the Units are lowered automatically for you :-) Also, being a start-up, we need to move fast! For that reason, every time a Layer is completed, the Units will start going down a bit faster.

In the middle, the Accuracy is displayed, along with the amount of Data and Layers. To increase the Accuracy, you must both annotate the Data and improve the Network (complete Layers) at the same time! Too much Data is useless (underfitting). Too little, and your Accuracy will decrease (overfitting).

We cannot legally ask you to work constantly, so if you TRULY MUST, you may take a break by pressing ESC.

The investors care a lot about the project! Therefore, if the Accuracy decreases too much, they will get scared and pull away. If this happens, we won't have a choice but to fire you :-(

Also, be careful not to grow your Network too much without completing Layers. If the Network reaches the top of the stack, the Gradient will vanish, training will stop, and you will be fired too :-((((

Good luck, and fail fast!

Press ESC to start.

Hahahaha, I genuinely love this entry. Trucks and PUPPERS!! The concept of multitasking with the neural network and (basically Tetris/Captcha) is very funny. Well done

This game is a lots of fun. I like the multitasking mechanic.

Definitely one of the more out there entries I have played, works well and I like the idea of balancing the two tasks as equally as possible.

Data science has never been this fun!

Play time ended up being just right for the game - a nice little game, however, as someone who cannot tell the difference between a truck and a pupper, the game was a little hard.

The multitasking needed here is crazy! I m not really good at tetris but I found the game enjoyable and funny, great work

You talked to the data scientist in me! Thanks for the game! :)

Thanks for the nice comments everyone! Didn't expect a game that's basically a rip-off of a classic combined with an activity that we all begrudgingly do sometimes when browsing to get this positive feedback :D

@etdofresh Thanks! :-) I worked as a data scientist for two years myself, quit recently to go back into dev. This game is a tribute to my old team :D

This was genuinely harrowing :D Love it, good work.

One of the silliest (and therefore best) takes on the theme I’ve seen yet. The multitasking is a lot of fun—you sort of have to let one side or the other become an unconscious process. It starts out maybe a little too easy, but it does ramp up eventually. I think this game gave me a real understanding for machine learning. Well done.

the game is fun. I know about the Chihuahua and Muffin Problem but the truck pupper problem is new to me. :smirk: :dog: :truck:

It was a really fun game! I like the concept of doing two things at the same time, it works really well with the captcha thing and the tetris like! Would totally replay it ahah

Interesting seeing a combination of tetris and captcha

I know from a verified source (i.e. I have attended a singe lecture ton the subject through meetup.com) that this is how all Machine learning actually works

Ahaha that's a pretty funny combination, it's fun to play both games at the same time :D. Not a common game, I appreciate that!

Congrats for the entry.

I would give 8/10 for the innovation of implementing captcha in a game, but the pupper deserves a 14/10. Heckin good job!

Really fun to gamify captchas validation, and that makes this good old tetris prettyu hard, well done!

I really enjoyed this game. At first I just started clicking the puppies and trucks, then realized that I was supposed to be playing tetris at the same time.

Very unique idea! I thought the captcha with trucks or puppers was a pretty funny idea. The tetris game felt a bit janky, but it was fun to multitask. I got up to 98.611 accuracy, 90 data, and ??? layers (the you win screen hides the number of layers). Very innovative game!

Is there an alternative control scheme? I don't have arrow keys :)

Puppers! :D I'm the worst at tetris, so naturally I got fired pretty quickly. But it was fun!

Thanks for the kind comments everyone! 😊 Very happy you're finding my game funny and/or enjoyable :D

@tezza48 Hey! Unfortunately, I finished pretty late and didn't have time to add different controls, I'm sorry! Thanks for checking it out tho!
