Catharsis by Fersyvanderzee

[raw]
made by Fersyvanderzee for Ludum Dare 48 (COMPO)

This time I decided to do something else. Normally I make some kind of arcade game for LDjam. This time I wanted to put in a message. In this game you are an AI uploaded in the brain of a patient. Your task is to eliminate the thoughts that depress him/her. Go deeper in the thought forest to relieve the patient. Use W, A, S, D for movement and the mouse for looking around you.

Really nice original concept. The art was well done and the music fit the atmosphere. I felt like with the lantern it was still a little too dark but overall it was fun to play.

Despite the game as a game lacks lots of things, I don't even bother you listing all, but the mood, the message you gave here outperforms all. I could not play it with more than 5 mins, because that's it, it does only that much. BUT and a big but, it gave me something. An experience, a nice 5 mins. I appriciate this, really, really good job!

You should have opted out of humor, as this is not at all funny. But it is very nice. And the darkness matches the slightly dark theme.

Thank you for this! Good atmosphere and message. Going from the dark scene to a white scene was hard on the eyes, but the message was worth it!

I like the premise of the experience (it's not really a game, is it). The music is quite serene and produces a great mood. It might even have replayability, if there was more to the gameplay: some interesting things to find (crazy thoughts, happy thoughts, a song stuck in the head etc) or more things to interact with. Only pressing W gets old quickly.

You should also add a/some screenshot/s to this post and label the itch.io link as "web" to get more people to play this!

Bugs:
- mouse sensitivity was way too high for me, without option to turn it down on the web version
- there is a gap in the floor and at first I thought it was a line leading to something
- "I have never accomplished anything" writes over the "press space to remove thought" text

A short and interactive experience. Mood was quite intense, the introduction prepared very well for the interactive bit. As said before, mouse sensitivity is a bit off in the web version, but was ok, could navigate. And: you deserve to be happy! Good work!
One recommendation: You should play and vote for other games, then you will raise in the balance and receive more ratings yourself (you need about twenty for a score in the end)
