You are the Nightmare by petmonkey
You find yourself in the same nightmare as so many times before. But this time, you decide to fight back. But beware - your nightmares are part of you, and what you do is in some way reflected in them...
HOW TO PLAY
-----------
WASD or Arrow Keys to move
Space to fire
Kill all nightmares on each level
Beat all 8 levels to win!
-----------
I went for a pretty literal interpretation of the theme. You control the hero and at the same time all the monsters. Although their movement is mapped differently than the hero's.
At first I was thinking of explaining it with a faulty mind-control device. But with the monsters from a game mechanics point of view already sort of being distorted versions of the player, it seemed to fit better to have them be inner demons and nightmares instead.
Other features:
-Randomly generated levels.
-Randomly generated movement and attack patterns for monsters. Becoming more difficult the futher one makes it.

The levels did all feel very similar; there wasn't much to distinguish one from the last.
The movement was linked to my movement I reckoned but what's going on with the firing mechanism?
