Objective Atlantis by Catoryu

[raw]
made by Catoryu for Ludum Dare 48 (JAM)

Story

We're going to send you into a submarine to find the lost city of Atlantis 10'000 meters below the surface. The submarine will stay attached to a chain, so we can pull you up after you found the lost city. Be careful of all the monstrous creatures, we've got you equipped with light spots to scare them away. The battery for your light spots is rechargeable with a simple button push on the celling of the submarine. The deeper you'll go below the surface, the stronger the pression will be and unfortunately, your submarine will start filling with water, still, we've got you equipped with a pump to get the water out. In case you need, we've equipped your submarine with a lever allowing you to move it left and right but be careful not go too far or you'll break the submarine and the water will flow in faster.

Controls

A & D or left & right to move your character
Space bar to jump
W & S or up & down to control lights and the submarine

this game is not short on activities. There was plenty to do as the submarine traversed downward. The graphics were adorable, the music and sound fx were both done very well and fit the game perfectly. I really liked what you did to keep the player busy while staying focused with the theme. Good job.

I like the side-view and the feeling of being in a submarine while being deep underwater. It's nice how there is space to figure things out myself, although I was confused at times. I like these kind of mayhem games. Quite stressful at times. XD

Damm that was close. I just made it to the end. It has a fun loop. The music could use some variety but it's still good. Cool game!

Certainly a funny game, loved the gameplay loop though it can be a bit stressful when there are too many fishes xD but on the spot. Definitively a perfect five minute-ish experience

Wow this was great! Kind of reminded me of Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime, being in a cramped ship and running to different stations to deal with the outside world. That panicked multitasking vibe. I could imagine it working really well as a 2 player coop in that sense!

I really liked the art style of this game. As mentioned I think a coop version of this would be cool!

took a little while to figure out exactly how the controls worked, but eventually got the hang of it. found the fish in general a little difficult to intentionally avoid, and the momentum of the sub was significant, but overall this was a really neat entry for ld! once i got the hang of it, i managed to reach the end. fun exercise in triage :)

I really enjoyed this. It's very charming. The art and audio is very good and really creates a good mood. It's fun being in the submarine but not having direct control. Things get hectic, but if you're mindful and man the stations regularly it's very doable.

Great work on it. Bravo!

Really cool game, feels really balanced, it's somehow chaotic and relaxing at the same time. Loved the way it looks and sounds, very good art and music, works perfectly with the concept. Of the multitasking managing games that i've seen in game jams, this i would say is the best one, very well done!

This game was so sick!! the art was adorable, the gameplay was intuitive and the controls were responsive! Very impressive for a jam game! You should be proud!

I really liked this game. The art was great and the concept allowed for some pretty fun game-play. The music was also really good and created a fantastic mood. I was a little confused on what buttons to press to control all the switches, but eventually figured it out

Great job :)
