Pressure

This is my first solo & compo game, thank you for checking it out :)

About

Deeper and deeper into an infinite basement of increasingly difficult enemies, how deep can you go?

Search the maze-like floors for the green zone to drop into the next level and receive half your health back

Chaining combos of kills will also heal you

Enemies will hit harder and increase their spawns as you reach deeper and deeper floors

Watch out for harder enemy types as you go deeper

Controls

W, A, S, and D to move
Left click to shoot
Space to jump

Heal by entering the next stage (green zone), chaining combo kills or hitting a long range shot

You can interupt an enemy charging up to quickly shoot again by shooting it while it is charging/flashing

Excellent! I love the bouncing bullets, the graphics and feel of the game are great too, I can't think of anything else to improve other than to perhaps add an arrow pointing to the floor's exit once you're done / upgrades

Pretty good! Loved the graphics! Gameplay is fun, good twist on the gravity-bullets. Needs music and boosters. Also multiplayer if you plan on long-term expanding it. Awesome foundation!

Moody, atmospheric.

I had a great deal of difficulty aiming with any accuracy. The fire rate was so slow that I kinda questioned why I had the gun in the first place.

Some particles whenever the bullet hit the wall would feel significantly bigger for cheap.

Because I stopped using the gun and started running past enemies, I got shot in the back a lot. This didn't feel good, because I didn't see the attack coming or have the opportunity to dodge. I would recommend either buffing the gun until the player is incentivized to take on the enemies head-on, or finding a way to project the enemy attack... something like a laser sight perhaps?

I was fairly impressed with the graphics, I felt that they were very good for a 48-hour 3d build.

Crazy good graphics for 48 hours! I liked the use of audio to warn when a shot is incoming. The long shot messages are a cool added feature. Some more variety in enemies/challenges would've made it more addicting. Really fun with a cool aesthetic!

Looks very interesting. Sadly couldn't get it to work on Linux with Wine :(

Is possible to get a Linux build later?

Nice graphics and loved ballistic of bullets, need to be skilled in game to be good haha
Sound maybe a bit weird for this style of game, but this is jam, and we are not musiciants ahaha
Great Job!

Nice game. The controls felt slick and I liked the visual style. I thought the enemies could afford to be a bit more aggressive.

@snesgaard i can try to get a linux build up within a couple hours but currently have no way to actually test it, nothing too complicated so hopefully it'd be alright

and thank you everyone for the feedback and nice comments, there's definitely a lot of tweaking and balance stuff I could have done given more time, but I'm glad generally people still like it

Cool game, nice atmosphere. I really liked the game. One thing I can complain is variety of the enemies. I would have liked to see different enemies.

For me it's just a bit lacking on the theme (I get the idea but it doesn't affect the gameplay much), but otherwise solid game in all aspects. The audio adds a lot to the atmosphere. Nice work for 48h :)

Game looks very nice, I liked the ricocheting bullets and the general minimalitic style. I would prefer a higher rate of fire against the mobs though, the levels become filled with them very soon and their shots are hard to dodge when there are so many of them.

@smt Good to hear! Linux link seems to direct towards the windows build, though :(

@snesgaard it's the same itch page, but there should be a new zip with the linux build inside

Cool a shooting game for this jam!

- The fact that the bullet has gravity makes the game very difficult, to me it could have been ok to focus on hiding and interrupting enemy charge than calculating our shots trajectory
- To me there is not the "deeper and deeper" theme despite we go deeper. Could have been cool to feel the deep, by changing the lightning or I don't know
- Very cool gameplay feeling

A really neat first attempt! The theme is a bit lacking, but the visuals and sound effects are cool. I like the mechanic of the game rewarding combos with hp.

The controls feel good and I like the mechanic that combos heal you.
The arcing of the shots took some getting used to, but I had fun once I got the hang of it.

Quite pretty, in a basic but good kind of way. The behavior of the projectiles was interesting, but I was disappointed that there wasn't any interesting use for the ricochet mechanic. I did have fun banking it off walls to hit entities, but actually accomplishing that was a significant gamble.

The combination of the entities bobbing and the arc of the gun made actually hitting stuff more difficult than felt good. As well, there wasn't enough variety to gameplay to make deeper levels feel meaningfully different. If the levels were designed rather than generated, that could have helped a lot I think.

i would like to maybe see the hit colliders on the enemys a bit wider, i shot dead at a few of them and the hits didnt register. specially since the mobs move alot aswell.

Really cool game, I like how it was very simple to get into, plays like a traditional fps but its unique in a lot of ways as well. I actually liked the clean and simple graphics and 8-bit sounds, they all fit together in the theme you were going for. For the gameplay itself it is fun and challenging with the wavy movement of the enemies making it harder to shoot them. Like people have said as you go deeper because of the randomly generated levels it starts to get stale but you can't really complain bc the theme is deeper and deeper so it makes more sense to make it infinite. And anyways more enemies are added to make it difficult so it does get a lot harder though to add replayability. It was a nice touch to add healing off of combo kills and long range snipes also, rewards more skilled players. Overall really incredible game I cant believe you made it in 48 hours.

The gameplay feels great, even though I needed some time to get used to the bullet trajectory. I really like the combo aspect and messages for longshots. Some spawns seem a little unfair though. Spawning in a level with 7 enemies right next to you doesn't feel motivating when you are just trrying to orientate yourself first. Nonetheless, great, clean looking entry!

Beautiful game, love the arcade feel with the graphics and sounds. Other than what's already been mentioned (the gun's/bullet's properties making aiming hard and kind of unsatisfying), one suggestion I have is having an indicator for where you get hit from, because I often got hit from the side or the back when I felt like I should've been sidestepping shots just fine. Maybe the game would've stuck with me more if I gave it more time, but still well done overall.

Awesome gun graphics and animation. I find it really hard to land shots, but also not too punishing when you miss, which is nice. Had fun playing it!

I think it's a nice game, but it could definetly be a bit more challenging. For example there could be limited amm o or give health to the player when they shoot the enemys in close range rather then when they are far away, as you can't be attacked by them. Also it would be fun if you get health for hitting a shot that has bounced of the wall.

Thank you for providing a dedicated Linux build! <3

Congratulations on your first game! I liked the fact that you included bouncing shot combos in this simple but fun shooter. I loved how the enemies make an "ow" sound when hit

Things I would change are: make it more obvious which enemy is charging up currently, and give them differently colored shots from mine. Of course, powerups would have been cool, but that's probably not in scope for a Compo game.

Well done!
