Dragon's Horde
A Ludum Dare 33 Compo Entry by KunoNoOni
Theme: You Are The Monster

******NOTICE******NOTICE******
THERE IS NO RAPID FIRE! YOU MUST PRESS THE FIRE BUTTON OVER AND OVER AGAIN TO SPIT FIREBALLS.
******************************

You are a Dragon and must defend your horde from King's Alonso's men. The men will come in groups of 30 and there are 5 waves of them. Each wave is the men will have more and more armor, so they will move slower and be able to take more damage before they will die.

You can only move Up and Down. The keys for movement are Up/Down/W/S/Joystick 1

You spit fireballs at the king's men to destroy them. You can use the 'C' key or the Joystick Button 0.

The game is easier if you use a joystick but is not required.

You will notice if an enemy gets beyond your head it will block your movement. THIS IS NOT A BUG! Think of it as being attacked from the side :)

I appreciate all of your feedback and hope you enjoy playing Dragon's Horde as much as I enjoyed creating it.

**Update**
You will notice there is an exit button on the main menu. This was meant for the standalone versions of the game. When I tried a standalone version during testing I notice that if the game was played in a resolution higher than 640x480 the buttons wouldn't work correctly.

Not sure how I didn't notice this but you can use the Left Mouse Button to shot fire balls with.

Pretty awesome! I noticed that you can also use click to shoot, for future comers.

Now my hand hurts from mashing c. :(

Simple but cute game, and I do like the mechanic where the guards that pass you block your movement. It leads to some interesting about risk and reward.

Cool game! I played the hardest mode right at the start and was able to get up to wave 5!

Playing on very hard was super fun with the speed. I think it would have been nice if the guards moved a bit more to dodge shots though. Otherwise tougher ones were just a matter of mashing c while standing still.

Thanks for the feedback! The difficulty in the game comes from the age of your dragon. An ancient dragon will have a much bigger horde than a young dragon.

Finally, all those hours spent playing minecraft have paid off! Great idea to go with a physical challenge limitation for the game. The Player screams at the screen "But there are so many guys! How do I kill them all? I just can't shoot them fast enough!" and the game responds "You should click faster." I really enjoyed it. Well done.

I found a trick where If there was a line of enemies that were blocking me, I could just keep trying to push them and eventually I'd get in front of them. It was really helpful because even on the second easiest mode, I was doing pretty badly. Great game, though!

Hey, nice game! Maybe as you mention, rapidFire would be nice, and also limit the maximum shooting rate. Maybe some more habilities would be nice too :)

I do enjoy this type of game, so good work putting it together! I know you mentioned that autofire wasn't able to be added, but I feel I should point out that it wouldn't just make the game more comfortable for players, but also limit their maximum firing speed. I noticed that by pushing both C and clicking at the same time, I could shoot twice as many fireballs, which made even the hardest level a cakewalk...

I won with one pile left! Lucky me. The game was fun to play, and the audio fit well. I also enjoyed the difficulty selection screen. (I picked adult)
