TODO: review game

What I learned today is that I do not have the qualifications necessary to drive this rig. I think I spent most of my time on my back but at least the thing kept on drilling! I'm not convinced there is gold in these here parts and I'm hanging up my hard hat, but I wish nothing but the best of luck to those who come after me in this gold rush.

Would be nice if there was a way to upgrade the machine so that it doesn't overheat. Great game.

The idea was fun and voice over was really funny. The drill has some issues, and it was really difficult to control when you first start drilling deep into the walls. But overall a pretty good compo game.

Nice game, but the physics are buggy i would get stuck in walls etc...

Nice idea and execution, loved the sound design xD Sadly I didn’t find gold in the end, but had a good time nonetheless. Physics were hard to master, I got stuck countless times. You should lock the cursor though, so it stays invisible in the centre of the screen.

I really quickly got stuck on my back. Didn't give up on drilling though! Gave me a good laugh. Nice world you created, sick lava.

To second and third the above comments, a lot of time spent figuring out the controls and camera to end up drilling strait up or down and not actually going anywhere. Overall the game has a cool aesthetic, the lava looked really nice. Sound was great too. Thanks for making it!

I love your game. Graphics is nice, lava is realistic. I saw some minor graphical issues while drilling, but my vehicle never stuck. Sometimes I felt a bit lost and didn't even know in which direction I was drilling.

"well damnit the drill's overheated" Love the audio tracks going on. I wish I could better control the drill, most of the time I can't rotate my view properly and I just spin around trying to right myself to no avail. Props to anyone who can master driving this drill. I think I'd lengthen the time it takes to overheat the drill, seems to happen very fast

Piloting the drill through the caves was like piloting a hippopotamus through a skate park, only the hippopotamus kept getting overturned and squishing the cameraman.

Speaking of the cameraman, the camera kept getting stuck at a weird angle and wouldn't unstick no matter how much I moved my mouse.

The overheating was frequent enough to be more frustrating than interesting.

I get the impression that this is a couple hours of work (mostly on controls and camera) away from being a really interesting and enjoyable game. The music is fun, the voice lines are funny, and the controls give the impression that the drill has real weight. When I managed to haul the drill to a wall, destroying the wall was very satisfying. The music is good and fits.

The fun factor in this one is really high! My only critique is the camera is a bit close and sometimes spins a bit fast for my taste - otherwise a solid game. The voice acting was very funny, and I liked the music!

Not too bad. It was fun driving the drill around the map on serch for the gold, but I had one issue. My tires would get stuck in the ground, I was driving around pretty recklessly so that was probably the cause. But Other then that the handleing was a little tricky at times.Overall it was a great experiense and I would love to see somthing like this as a full game. GoodJob :)

Love the concept, the models looks good :) Maybe improve on the lighting a bit, some places is too dark :)

Fun stuff, but I'm not sure if I'm just not qualified to operate the drill, but I fell and couldn't get the drill back anymore. This feels like a great concept given a day or two more of polishing, not bad at all. I especially like the models and the game's look :)

I enjoyed opening my way through the walls and find new places, nice exploration hook. The models, sound and feel are very good.
I know it might be tricky, but maybe give us the option to locate the camera a bit farther away, since I might roll or turn and it will help with direction.

Sometimes the drill turns in weird ways, hard to get back in place, but besides that is a really fun game. The narration is the best part hahahaha

It reminded me of an old game called Robot Rage, which I assure you is a great compliment. Destructible environments are often hit-or-miss... but this one is a hit for sure! Well done :smiley:

I like the destructible environment and the physics.

That was really fun! The destructible environment, the joy of finding an opening after long, claustrophobic dig, the slightly alienish vibe at the end. Feels like a cool game to expand with new mechanics and levels! Turn it into semi-sim with a sci-fi vibe!

Surprisingly more-ish, just like drilling for actual gold I guess! I got about 5 levels down but sadly my early retirement will have to wait. Gad Dangit, drills overheated.

Fun in a wonky-physics kind of way :). I got stuck A LOT and managed to flip the drill into all kinds of crazy positions. Fun times! And I really loved the voice over.

The thing I wished for was ability to zoom out more.

Drilling is very satisfying when it works well. I have noticed its fairly annoying sometimes when the car flips over though. Happens a decent amount (to me at least). I think with tighter movement controls this could be really really good!

The voice line for the drill overheating is gold.
I got buried in rocks but doing some 360s while drilling cleared the area in no time!
Great game! Fun to play.

This game is something different alright. It was a lot of fun smashing through rocks when I was able to. Personally I think the overheating mechanic slowed the game down without adding to much. But when I did get to just hold forward with the drill on it was super satisfyingly. The sounds and music are really fun additions and the visuals might be rough but they have some charm. Overall this was a good entry.

pretty neat game, though the driller kept going all over the place, but that was actually part of the humor i guess :D

Damn what a rollercoaster of emotions, first it was pretty chill, then it went to Disco mode and when I found the gold I had been looking for 10 minutes a sad movie credit song came out.

If I could change something about the game it would be something to make the car position correctly as I were facing down for 3 solid minutes. Very fun game overall!

this was a very interesting take on the theme so i give you high regard there. the controls for the drill were a little hard and i was constantly overheating. i think with a little more time you have had something here. thanks for making it.
