Now a digging game isn't anything new. But digging deeper and deeper with various bombs - now that's a way to get some boom into a game! In Explovation you can blow away anything that worries you. Mostly slimes and rocks though. Dig deep, kill slimes and collect gold for a high score. There are over 25 (!) bombs at your disposal and many different caves and veins await you! (17+ unique layouts with procedural generation on top!)

CONTROLS:

A - D: left and right movement Space: Jump Q / LMB: place left bomb E / RMB: place right bomb

(The desktop version even feature controller support!)

Music was once again custom made during the Jam by our good friend Gabriel Thäter who was YET AGAIN too lazy to create an ldjam account:

I loved getting used to the different bomb patterns, though in using one of the larger ones I apparently triggered some other explosive which caused a bunch of blocks to collapse, it was super exciting but seemed to cause the game to get stuck at a single frame per second and I had to restart. But don't worry, I refuse to let this be my last run!

I really like the game. Especially like the final score 'depth' really fits the theme well. Congratulations!

Simple yet amusing! I didn't manage to go very far because the timing of the bombs is difficult to handle to kill enemies, but I still made more than one run because I liked the concept. The only thing a little annoying is the volume of explosions.

The different bombs are all very cool, but I found it way too easy to die to your own bombs, and enemies are usually too fast to avoid while also avoiding your own bomb (some bombs can only barely be avoided by immediately leaving the area in a straight line). Excellent music and feel though.

Fun and tricky to maneuver down without blowing yourself up! Clean art, nice music, tight controls, I had a good time.

The bomb will hurt myself if I leave the initial place position, is this expected design? And I love this concept very much, it simple and straight forward but has lots of fun. The underground is really dangerous that slimes are moving very fast. The pixel art and music fits the gameplay well. Thanks for the good game.

The concept is really solid, I love how different the patterns are and how good for different situations they can be, however I caught myself wanting to throw bombs down the hole, only to be surprised by the bombs not falling down - I understand if it's a part of the game's mechanics, but I still wanted them to satisfyingly drop down :) Also, the blue elements could indicate more that they are the enemies' spawns, I thought that they are a diamond or a collectible - they could be more sinister to indicate that they are dangerous. Overall I feel like it's a really solid game with very nice graphics, I've spent a good few minutes diggin' :)

Nice little game and a fun twist on digging down. The enemies are pretty tough! Music and graphics were good, love the use of lighting to set the mood too!

Once in a while you come across a game during a game jam that makes you ask the question, "why isn't this a thing yet ?" and this is one of those.

Bomberman platformer, I really can't believe it doesn't exists yet. If it already exists, then please link me the game. If not, this is a great game and a great MVP to showcase how fun it will be :D

Great game !

This is a really great game, with lots of potential! I loved the music and sound effects, and the graphics had a nice and clean look. The world generation was excellent. Killing the enemies was sometimes hard, depending on which bombs I had. Like someone else said above, I feel the bombs should have gravity, instead of staying where they were placed. One bug (or feature) I found was that I still gained score after I had died.

Overall great game!

I loved this game! I tried several times, but I never get far hahahha

It's great concept with nice music and sound. At each start I wanted to know how new bombs would explode, and it's fun!

Maybe you should create a signal or animation that indicates that the player has received damage. Anyway, your game is amazing! Congrats!

Cool game! The concept is solid. I like that there are different types of bombs. Music and sound effects are good. Would love to see this as a full game. Well done!

I like the idea! The game looks good, and the different types of bomb patterns are cool.

I didn't realize my own bombs were hurting me (seems there's no really animation or indication other than losing the heart). I don't think they should. Especially because they need to be placed at your position, they blow up fast, and they don't have gravity. If I could throw them, roll them, or drop them down holes it may be less "unforgiving". Once I learned I could hurt myself, I got a little further, but then I set off a big bomb and caused the cave to collapse on me.

There's just so many things that want to kill me!!!

I eventually set off some kind of huge explosion that slowed everything down to 1 fps. I think the physics killed my pc lol

Anyway, this is a neat idea that could use some tuning. Good job on the visuals, the bomb patterns, and overall good job on your entry!

This was pretty fun! Here's some notes I took while playing:

- Fun bomb patterns and names
- Satisfying explosions
- Can't quit from fullscreen (or at least I don't know how)
- Slimes are way too fast and seem to never die, I once died to a slime that was down off-screen and just came zooming by and hit me
- Coins have gravity and sometimes get stuck inside blocks when they fall too fast
- The visuals and lighting are freaking beautiful

One suggestion I have is to maybe have the screen be vertical instead of horizontal, like a phone game. That way you could more easily see where you are going! Nevermind that, it's a really good game.

I liked the concept, the different patterns of the bombs made it interesting although the idea is not very innovative. The controls however were a bit restrictive, there was something off about the double jump, either it was too hard to execute or it just didn't work sometimes, also you should be able to throw the bombs a bit and not leave them were you are standing. The combination of these two things made it really hard to get out of the way of your own bombs and evade the enemies and that made the game kinda frustrating. The graphics and the music were solid. Overall good entry but you should really be able to throw the bombs a bit to make it fun in stead of frustrating.
