Ludum Dare 48 - "Lime Snowfall"

limesnowfall.png

You have discovered classified documents which reveal an extensively corrupt government conspiracy, but agents of the state have found you out as a whistleblower and are in pursuit to extrajudicially eliminate you! They have cut the cables of your escape route elevator and are rappelling down the shaft after the platform in free-fall. You must now defend yourself against these assailants, and stand for the public's right to know what atrocities have been committed in the name of "freedom." Holding onto the briefcase will kindle the flame of hope that justice will prevail, but the weight of its secrets will weigh you down significantly as you brave the storm of bullets that soon comes. Your trusty flashlight will help to illuminate threats looming within the darkness, and improves weapon accuracy as well.

I'm in, I think. Planning to use either Godot or C++ with SFML, and hopefully make it available on Android and Windows at least.

Neat idea, and definitely had some fun to it. The biggest issue I had was not firing your gun when clicking behind yourself, would of been better if it just forced a turn-around on clicking behind yourself.

This game isnt bad for the amount of time you put into it, but I think that you could have changed somethings. For example, I was immediately overwhelmed by the sheer amount of enemies, that spawned faster than I can even shoot. I think that this game could have been made better, even with the time constraints. Overall, not bad. 2/5 Also, Im going to add an extra point on overall because you managed to not only tolerate, but make a game with Cmake, which I applaud you for. 3/5

Really interesting concept and I liked the backstory. I have to agree that the spawn rate and the inability to shoot behind you make the game quite difficult. Still it was pretty fun, thanks.

@tomn114 you start with the flashlight in your hand, and will automatically pick it back up when you drop the briefcase. It aims its beam against whichever wall you are facing toward, and while holding it, your bullets will not stray from where you are aiming, and movement is not impaired unlike the briefcase, which instead heals you over time. Also, there are no other rooms, only the one, just to survive for as long as possible :) good luck!

I really enjoyed the look of this game, and I thought the concept of needing to shoot through the cables of your pursuers was hilarious! I did find the controls a bit finicky though, I had a lot of trouble aiming and stretching my fingers to press A, D, E, and F was a bit awkward.

I appreciate the level of completion. The controls are very responsive and functional. The art style's a little wonky and the game feels a little empty in terms of visuals and audio, but props on the consistency. I didn't quite get the point of the briefcase, but once again, loved how responsive it was. Very neat premise for the game's story!
