Palette's Bottomless Backpack by CeltiCo

Thank you for entertaining our dinner guests.

Would you believe me if I told you this was our first-ever game jam, and our first-ever finished game? Yup. Thanks for the high scores. Except audio. We put a lot of work into that. Hm.

Palette's joining her friends at dinner. But she's misplaced some things, way at the bottom of her backpack. Oops.

Hold left click on a container (such as the backpack or sewing kit) to drag an item out. Find some stuff, complete objectives, rack up points. Enjoy the yourself with a soundtrack with silver/glassware worked in, fully-voiced simspeak, and chaos!

Being a slob is fun. That is all.

Loved loved loved the atmosphere! Great art, music, and dialogue that served as a great accent to the mellow gameplay of picking stuff out of bags.

Never thought being a slob would be so fun! I'm surprised at the amount of unique objects, interactions and different events in a jam game!

Really funny idea! Every time I kept expecting it to run out of items, it just kept going.

Absolutely stellar game. I kinda wish you had to put things back together, but this was really fun! Also, it's possible to soft lock if you toss the bill or card off the table haha

What a fun little idea. I love the general visuals and feeling the game gives off, it just makes the whole experience relaxing even as I plaster my garbage all over the table and risk pushing everyone else's stuff off the edge. The fact that the placement of things seems different each time is also a really nice touch.

I did find myself wanting the ability to move containers around without fully emptying them first, though perhaps that would detract from the chaos of the situation a little bit. May be worth considering though.

Overall I like it a lot, it's a fun way to interpret the theme and definitely way more fun than I would have thought a messy backpack unpacking simulator could be!

I literally can't get over the amount of assets in this game, it's off the charts! Serious props to your artist because wow! They knocked it out of the park, but not only them because the rest of the team brought their A game.

Absolutely charming game, I said the visuals were great but the music and sound effects and control were all perfect. Great stuff and your team did amazing!

Adorable game! I found it a little confusing on what exactly I was supposed to do sometimes, but it was really fun nonetheless. Nice job!

And I thought my bag was bad!
Neat game, the conversation made me laugh and so did the references. There's always room for dice and pencils.

Only thing was that there is sometimes a delay in the dialogue.

Loved the concept. Really clever take on the theme. Originally thought it was just going to be a random object generator but eventually realized there was a method to the madness.

This game is HISTERICAL. The table was already full... but the waiter could just NOT care less! Not to mention the remarks of the characters on the stuff getting pulled out - had a great laugh at these.

Got 48% and it was complete chaos, I wonder if 100% completion is possible without dropping stuff off the table...

What an experience this was.

A fun game, but some of the stuff went off the bottom of the screen and I could not pick up or interact with it again.

A fantastic entry, a super cool concept executed well. All the art, music, and dialogue play into this idea so well. One thing I would have liked is for the objectives to get crossed off when you complete them.

Well done!

A gem of a game - perfect take on the theme. First run through I got reckless and found 'almost' everything but dropped the debit card on the floor!
Having it set over a dinner chat was a lovely touch.

I usually don't rate jam games, but this sure is an exception. The idea is just great, and just shows to me personally how much more can be done in a jam. I liked everything about this game - the graphics, audio and the mood - an amazing interpretation of the theme. My only problem was that I threw some important items from the table by accident, but that's just my fault. Great job!

UPD: Though somehow I was able to get an empty plate without chicken nuggets on a second playthrough - interesting  But 64% after all

I loved this, I relate with this concept so much, it made me smile. A deep loop of bags and things and more things inside of bags and other things, what a cool idea (and execution) for this theme!

Thank you everyone for playing and enjoying the restaurant. We had such a fun time... and got some pretty high scores! For a first ludum-dare, and a first game... thanks for enjoying it. I checked out each of your games as well and you guys did awesome likewise. I hope to see each of you in LD49, cheers.

Dang this was super rad. I love that the items on the table had physics and moved the other items off the table. Also great mechanics and the dialog over the unpacking was really nice.
