Known Issues - There are reports of spacebar not working to refuel. I cannot replicate this, but try clicking the refuel button first, and it should work. - Sometimes the music does not loop and cuts out instead

Very fun. This is faster paced than a lot of similar things I've seen and I think that helps it keep interest.
It didn't seem like space was working to refuel though.

Very fun game ! It's very complete and the shop is really cool ! Maybe add some more coal, because i mainly loose because of the fuel lack... The graphics and audio are amazing, and controles are smooth. Maybe add a sensitivity option ? Anyway, great job !

This game has super high production value for something made in a weekend, well done!

Sadly, on my pc the framerate is too low to properly play it...

@hapiel Thank you for your kind words. Sorry to hear about the framerate, I didn't get to fit in all the optimisations I had hoped to get done :(

I-I-I'm not addicted... you are!

The art style got me first because I thought "OH HECK SOMEONE MADE CLAYMATION ON LUDUM DARE"! Sadly that's not the case in gameplay... Anyway, it's a simple premise with a remarkable art style! I had to stop myself before my competitive attitude takes over and try over that #1 spot.. The upgrades are simple enough to keep anyone going, but not for the attention for a normal Ludum Dare rater, since they have to rate other things.

At this point of posting this comment, I would be at 7th place with a score of 1398. I'm not a fan of the flags because I would like to keep my nationality a secret to everyone... I wish I was warned about this. (If you can't change that, please remove my score!)

O yeah, Space doesn't work for refueling.

Nonetheless, great work!

Thank you a for your feedback. @fiakaiera I've removed your score for now and I'll see if I can make the nationality optional - thanks for pointing that out :)
I've had the refueling issue mentioned a couple of times but I can't seem to replicate it

Very good and simple gameplay, skill is required to progress and the ability to store resources between runs adds a substantial element of strategy to the fuel mechanic, at least until upgrades trivialise that part of the game. My only issue comes with the very blurry and eye destroying late game as well as the rocks blending into the grey background once you get further down into the earth. The addition of the leaderboard was an amazing idea and I have already wasted far to much time getting to the top 3.

really clear and clean core gameplay look. the quick return to the next round made it nice to jump back into another round. though I personally found it pretty hard to not run out of fuel constantly at the beginning. not sure if i was missing something, but even prioritizing strictly getting coal wasnt enough to make significant progress. could definitely see this concept getting expanded

Nice game! Smooth gameplay, clear instructions. I just was missing any hamsters in the game :D

A simple and well executed idea. I loved how easy it is to get into the game and collect minerals. :gem: :gem: The whole game felt responsive and the audio fit well with the theme. You did a great job with this game  The idea to greet players with a leaderboard was an amazing idea. It pushes players to try and play again and again. The graphics was also well-made.

I only missed an option to invert the left and right controls, as my mind always steered the drill in the wrong direction.

@guladam there is an option to invert the controls, it's just under the instructions :)

@unbansheee I have taken the time to unseat you from the throne. Very compelling game and well done on the upgrade system.

Some of the rocks could be a bit dark and it was really all luck after a depth score of around 1500, and I had 15 drill heads to get me through.

Tremendous game.

@awrgamedev goddammit... I'm gonna be up all night now trying to reclaim that spot. One of my next step is to rebalance the speed, I agree it gets pretty hectic around 1300-1500

You really gonna put a leaderboard in my face with my country flag right beside my name? what a tease bghewbhguewewgewb you know how to get me huh, i spent about two hours playing this, that's just so mean, what a good game, simple, to the point, rewards the grind, feels like an idle game but with much more control in my hand, absolutely lovely, 5/5 for sure

A simple concept with wonderful execution! Great graphics and handling of the controls. The leaderboard made the game that much more addictive.

Nice work! :)

Nice one! I love graphics, cool shaders, you even managed to make movement for leaves and grass =) Very cool! There may be a little lack of sounds for collisions with large stones, but even without them it plays very well, especially considering that there are upgrades and a leaderboard!

Nice idea! The core mechanics seem really solid. Unfortunately, I faced some issues with refueling as, for some reason, I couldn't get it to work so I couldn't go as fare as I would have liked to.

I gotta stop playing this to give other games a chance lol. Very fun and polished game!

Edit: Hang on, if the drill is hamster powered, then what are we doing with that coal???

Wow nice job! I really enjoyed playing this, lots of fun! It had a great gameplay loop to repeat where it was satisfying to get enough money to get upgrades. I definitely got to a point where the upgrades started to be a bit too expensive for the amount you got on each run. Also I think the background music cut out at a certain point, or it wasnt set to loop. Regardless, awesome job!

There was some very cool music when I first started the game. But the track doesn't seem to loop (or maybe something bugged?), as the music ended and never started again. When I restated the game, the music was there again. And ended again after a time.
Graphics is nice, but the gray background color of the second biome makes it harder to see the big rocks. Especially when moving fast. Would be nice if there would be more contrast there.

Gameplay feels smooth and polished. And thank you for including controls inversion - it feels more natural inverted :).

Also: Do the inner drill hamsters eat coal?
