Monster Hotel by GaTechGrad

[raw]
made by GaTechGrad for LD33 (COMPO)
All of the monsters in Monsterland stopped by the local bar for a few drinks after a hard day of monster work.
Since drinking and driving is not permissable in Monsterland, the monsters need to find their way to the Monster Hotel to stay the night. As the owner of Monster Hotel, you need to help the drunken mosters find their way to your establishment.

All monsters coming out of the bar are boogey men. Use your powers to transform the monsters to make their way to the Monster Hotel.

Wolf Man - Can dig through ground
Vampire - Allows the monster to land softly from a long drop
Frankie - Blocks other monsters from proceeding

Reminds me of Lemmings. Could do with more levels and better animation but I did like the designs of the classic horror characters and their unique abilities.

I too see a Lemmings influence with this which is nice.
The unique abilities for each type of monster is a pretty cool idea that would be neat to see expanded for more monster types. I'd like to have the ability to speed up time once I have everything setup to get the monsters into the door, and I think having the monsters not collide with each other (unless it is a frankie) would be good too. A few of my monsters walked on top of the others and over my frankies to their deaths. Poor monsters. Poor drunk monsters.

Nice version of lemmings. Intresting how you got up with the concepts of each monster and what they do. Felt good.

Sweet idea! I included it in part 8 of my Ludum Dare 33 Compilation video series, if you would like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/tto3rRaLBXQ

A nice homage to lemmings. It's a bit on the simple side, and it would have been nice to have more levels that required multiple monsters used together. The sound effects were a nice touch though.

Nice riff on the theme and I like the art style - reminds me of old point-and-click adventure games. Would be cool to see some more challenging levels where you have to use multiple different abilities. Really solid compo entry, though - good job!

Oh man, you certainly made me remember the good old Lemmings day. Pretty cool little game, the monsters are related to the effect that they cause, which was nice. One thing that annoyed me was that the monsters bounce against each other which make things take longer than needed. Apart from that, job well done.

Terrific as is but since you plan on extending this to a full game it will come down to level design. Everything else seems in place but the levels are limited currently but only because want to use Frankie moire. ☺

- fun concept
- graphics look good
- good that you had music but it doesn't seem to fit
- needs a button to speed up the game
- game was a bit short
- mechanics work well together, would like to see some more advanced puzzles
