Business Demon by LeReveur

[raw]
made by LeReveur for LD33 (JAM)
In the world of societies, there are business angels. But you're not one of those. Your job is to make societies more efficient, and gain more and more money, no matter what it costs on workers rights. You are a business demon, and that slim products little society needs your help. Its shareholders, at least. So, you have one year to maximise the profits, good luck !

As every time, I lost a very lot of time figuring how to make what I want. And a very lot more on minor details...

It was the first time I tried to make a simulation, and as expected it's not as simple as it seems, especially find the good factors and others simulation mechanisms. I'm afraid that the result will not be a good simulation, but I learned much things by trying. ;)

PS : If you go to the end, share your best score in the comments ;)
(mine is over $65,000,000)

The game was alright, especially for a LD. The UI was a bit messy but I figured it out. The game was a little too easy for my sense, but it is an okay entry.

I couldn't get this to run. Do you have any idea why?

Decent concept and funny premise. Could have used a bit more direction.

@bw : I don't know. I just added an alternative server, is that work ?

Took me a while to wrap my head around the UI/the response messages. Once I figured out what was going on, it was pretty much set it and forget it. Ended with $8.8M

Felt like I got dropped into the deep end! Though I eventually pieced together what each button meant. It's fun trying to keep track of all the moving parts.

Pretty fun. It's a little hard to understand exactly what to do. I managed to make $7,788,931. Nice work.

Yeah, the UI is a bit opaque. I'll admit I wasn't sure what I was doing, but I did clock in at about $6.8M at year's end.

Could use some heavy polish, but everything works. I made a sim myself last time around, so know the struggle of balance. :)

Hi everybody, thank you to have played with my little game. :)
I will try to help understand how it works, but I still not understand myself some parts of its behavior XD
- Managers rise the workers stress level, even more if you rise roughness.
- Stress make workers work harder, but they burn-out and quit more often.
- Fire or hire both costs money.
- Very unhappy workers quits more often.
- Very angry workers can start a strike.
- Managers quits more often if they are underpaid.
- You need at least one manager to make the workers do their job.
- Better paid workers work very hard.
And some more things I can't remember all of them, like if you fire every workers, all gauges are reset to zero.
My last better score was more than $160M, and all I remember is that I kept less managers, 15h/day, roughness 500, very well paid workers and managers. It was not meant to be that way (the idea was to make a game where bad actions like fire workers and pay them less would make more profits), but that's what I really like with LD : I almost never ends with what I though at first...

PS : pardon my english, it's not my native language and I'm not so good at that ^^

Interesting take on the theme!
The UI is a tad confusing though. My first attempt was basically trying to learn the function of each button, and I made like $15M that time. Once I got the logic behind it wasn't really hard. My next attempt got me $162,044,202, a score quite similar to yours (but unlike your nicer approach, I actually achieved that by firing a lot of people and having awful work conditions, lol)

Simulations are hard, and you managed to do a pretty decent one over a weekend. That's more than impressive! A nice entry, although the connection to the theme is a bit loose.

You made $162M by firing lot of people ? O_O
As I said, it was meant to work that way, and before your message I was absolutely sure that I failed, thank you for proving me I was wrong ! :D

You're right ! I just made more than $326M reconsidering facts with your information ! XD

Aside from a few typos, It seemed to be a pretty functional game. Some sort of explanation of the buttons and what they do would have been nice, though.

UI was a tad messy but still managed to make my millions and garner that sweet sense of satisfaction.

I managed to make $16M without knowing what I am doing, so that is pretty good! Overall, creating a simulation is pretty ambitious, and I think you accomplished something pretty good considering the time constraint!
