Descending by János Parádi

[raw]
made by János Parádi for Ludum Dare 48 (JAM)

Controls: The submarine points into the direction your mouse points towards. The submarine moves automatically. Press space to turn the light on/ off but watch out, or the battery will run out. Airbubbles supply you with oxygen, when you run out of it you die. Bumping into walls also causes you to loose oxygen. Press Escape to Pause the Game.

Objective: You need to track down multiple treasures left inside a big cave, an arrow will point in the direction of it. Each time you collect one, you loose oxygen faster and you need to bring it back to your base, located on the ocean surface. After you bring the latest treasure back, you need to look for a new one.

The game looks really nice and the ambience is done nicely, good job! I had some issues, it exits the game after 15-20 seconds, even when i'm not doing anything. But overall looks dope.

I liked the atmosphere of the game. The lack of music in my opinion adds to the feeling of being alone underwater in search of something. The sprites were cool too. Though the post processing effect made the lights sometimes a bit too bright. The controls were easy to understand but it was sometimes hard too see which way to go to get to the treasure chests. But overall it was fun to play.

Simple and good looking. Liked the aesthetics. A minor thing would be the narrow tunnels where you barely fit and the sub takes damage. At some point got lost and stuck in some area :D with almost empty battery

I really liked this game! I love the mood and the atmosphere it creates, as you venture deeper into the subterranean caves the map has to offer! I would try to improve the movement for a post-jam version (it sometimes moves weirdly, like vibrations?), and maybe a minimap would be nice (just do not reveal secret cave entrances when you're in surface, haha). Good job! (Also, I would remove the humor category, because this aims for an atmospheric vibe, and it could lower the overall mark of the game)

I found the idea interesting, and the commands respond well. The art is also very good, but the light is so clear that I couldn't see the oxygen properly when I got too close. My battery ended up even with my flashlight off, I was trying to save for when it was necessary but that was not possible. I tried to recharge and I couldn't, as I was out of battery I couldn't go after other chests. Congratulations, it was very good!

I really like the graphics and lighting system you have for your game, some upgrades might make it more engaging for the player. I really liked the way the submarine controlled in the game, it was fast and responsive, where if a mistake happens I know its my fault and not the games reaction to what I want to do. Keep up the good work

Pretty cool game! As many have said here, the athmosphere is pretty good, and id say the gameplay itself is pretty good too, maybe making it a bit harder would be good (besides one area where i couldnt find my way out no matter what for some reason all the other treasures were pretty easy to get), but all in all it's a fun game!
