Digmon by ErkaNec

[raw]
made by ErkaNec for Ludum Dare 48 (JAM)

You play as a red demon with a shovel. You have one goal - to get to the King of Abyss and defeat him. You will encounter various enemies on your way. Levels are generated randomly, and every playthrough is different. Making this game was fun, and I hope you will enjoy playing it.SS1.png

That was neat! The difficulty spikes really hard though, and I accidentally quit the game the first time I played, a little more warning that walking left exists the application could be good.

Art style is really good, I love that each level has its own unique graphics and music, it's a nice touch.
Really solid game, I had a lot of fun with this one!

For the first i tought that it will be the game about digimons :D But I dont feel disappointment. It was very hard at the beginning but after a while I could progress faster.

This was cool! Despite the tutorial it still look me a little bit to work out exactly what I was meant to be doing, like how I lost my weapon and didn't realise! I suspect this plays better using a gamepad than it does with a keyboard, but even so it was good fun. The art is great, and the SFX give some satisfying feedback. Would love to see this idea expanded upon.

Very cool. The sound effects and gore splats are especially satisfying, it felt great to get a bunch of kills all at once at spread blood everywhere haha. I found a very useful tactic where if you can dig one straight line from the top of the screen to the bottom, you can fall infinitely and splat any enemies that try and approach you - almsot foolproof!

Fun stuff! One suggestion I would have is maybe when you die, don't put the user back on that main menu next to the tutorial. I found myself dying and then accidentally either immediately entering the tutorial or accidentally exiting the game by walking left.

Good job :)

Really cool, the art style despite being a bit disorienting is pretty cool, it's really polished and fun to play, Epic!

The gameplay, sound effects and art are all great. The repeating music is getting on the nerves a bit, though. Also I'd love to be able to remap the controls. But these are just minor nitpicks. The game is fun and challenging. Well done!

Its pretty hard to control, your head bumps into everything easily. But overall it was fun, it took me some time to understand the suspiciously simple mechanics, I barely managed to get through 3 levels

Took me some time to figure out the controls, but once that was done it was pretty fun

Extremely fun once you get how it works ! Difficulty is just right, it's hard, but not enough to discourage the player immediately. I loved it !

Loved the pixelated art style, but I was terrible at this game lol.

To start the level is already a challenge) I go to tutorial most of the times. And you could up the readability on screen by separating background from foreground, like maybe less details on background.

I enjoyed the challenge of the game! I think that the pixel art was good, but the background and colors in general were too saturated which made it a bit hard to stare at for extended periods of time. Well done on this submission!

Really fun and fast-pace gameplay! I got stuck a few times due to the random generation but otherwise it was very enjoyable!

Very challenging game! The player moves a little too fast which makes it very hard to control. I had a very hard time understanding what the goal was. The tutorial teaches the control well but not the point of the game. Love the sound effects and music!

I loved the little bits of audio polish like when you wrap around the screen - that's a great little touch. The gameplay was absolutely chaotic which was mostly great apart from when you'd randomly kill things or randomly lose your shovel there wasn't much feedback as to why that happened.

Phew, this gets quickly hard! It took me a lot of tries just to get past the first level. I think it's not because it's difficult, but really unforgiving. Movement is quick, one mistake just take us to the beginning, if the weapon is dropped we can get into a no-win situation... And sometimes I'd say the game is a bit unfair, like when we jump on an ennemy just when it shoots, or when several enemy appears and block our way.

Despite that, the game became pretty fun once I got the hang on it! I achieved to reach the third level. It's nervous, and the dig mechanics offer a lot of interesting situations. There's also a ton of great visual and audio feedbacks! Tough to learn, but a blast to play once you become somehow good at it!

Difficult but fun game with tight controls. The audio is nice, the graphics are super cute and the game just feels fun to play. Swinging downwards when you attack really incentivizes you to use the vertically looping levels to your advantage and fight while falling. Great entry!

The jumping isn't really satisfying which is a bummer because the shovel swinging feels great! I would've loved more room to jump in the random generation with a more solid, controllable jump. I love the idea of the game screen looping. I wish the in game art was as awesome as some of the other art around here, the tiles could've been a bit less noisy to keep focus on the player and the enemies. Feedback on killing stuff is great too, so great job there. would love to see a bit more from this concept and see where you push it!

Wow! This was fun!
I loved the clever mechanics and the cute pixel grafics. And I played way longer than I expected, it was fun and exciting! The level tiles are a bit too noisy and colorful for my taste. But everything else was great!

Nice thing! Strange choice of color for text. Often blends with the background.
