Project PANDORA by Fonics

[raw]
made by Fonics for Ludum Dare 48 (JAM)

Before the Exodus left Earth an uninhabitable wasteland, scientists at a remote research facility were working on pocket-dimension technology, codenamed Project PANDORA. This technology could be vital in the fight against the corporate controlled Coalition, as such the MU has sent one of its most dedicated agents to explore the facility: you! You are tasked with finding this pocket dimension technology and discovering how it works, and hopefully surviving long enough to relay the information back to the MU. How far down the layers of dimensions go is unknown, but you have been told to venture deeper and deeper until you find the key to the research the MU is looking for.

Project Pandora is my 2nd sci-fi puzzle platformer created for my 2nd ever Ludum Dare for the theme "Deeper and Deeper"! It was an absolute blast and I can't wait to join more for years to come. Hope you have fun playing!

Art and Programming: Fonics Music and Sound Effects: Chipper - https://chipper1.bandcamp.com/

Controls - The game supports both keyboard+mouse and Xbox controllers (Should support PS4 controllers as well)! I highly recommend playing on a controller if possible.

Movement: left thumbstick or WASD

Interact:Sprite-0012.png

How to Play - The pocket dimension experiments led to the creation of Pandora Cubes, self-contained pocket dimensions inside of boxes. Pick up Pandora Cube and drop it into a Cube Slot, then you can Interact and you will be teleported inside the pocket dimension! Pandora Cubes can contain Pandora Cubes inside them, and the further down you go, the weirder the dimensions are going to get. When you go far enough down some cubes will be Powered. If all cubes in a dimension are Powered and in Cube Slots, the cube containing the dimension will become powered, and you will be teleported back outside that cube.

Liked the mechanic of going through the "portals" to get to new rooms that can go deeper before getting out. Movement felt a little bit awkward in spots with jumping. Good game and lighting.

The lighting was pretty effective indeed. Music felt a bit out of place for my taste. All in all a nice entry.

Thanks for recommending your game on my stream! Here is the VOD: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1003973153

I think what you have here is a good start to a larger puzzle platformer, that you could uncover a big conspiracy/mystery during the course of the game.

I loved the awkward robotic walk animation! It made the game quite charming.

Gool game, works well with a PS4 Controller.

A really cool concept to go deeper into some paths and then get out again to be able to go further in the "parent" level.

Really nice visual style and smooth gameplay, all it needs is more content!

This game is so odd it's cool. It's just so bizzare! hahaha you turn into a box (at least that's what it felt like) after reading the intro once i finished the game(i think, i found something pretty creepy down there) then i understood that I was being sucked into the boxes. The one section with the "ID" i had to brute force the lock to solve it. I wasn't sure if i missed the "id" code or not. :-) allnall neat entry. :-)

I really liked the art and the mood. Got stuck in a room with blue and pink cable and didn't know what to do. (after pink was activated). Also refreshing the page doesn't reset the game.

Got stuck for a bit in the room where you enter a two digit code -- finally figured out what two digit number should have immediately come to mind :). The audio and music really added to the mood of the game. When the music loops there's a slight hitch where the end of the loop doesn't match up to the beginning. Very innovative ideas. Good work!

I think this is a solid foundation for a game that wants to become a puzzle platformer.

The idea was interesting, but I won't talk too much on it out of fear of spoiling the end.

The graphics were nice, though the main character could have used a little more animation, especially for jumping.
I think the game could be built up to make something very interesting!
