Dig It! by Elbapotsnugg
Happy LD48 everyone! For our first team jam, we created Dig It! The goal of the game is to dig deeper and deeper until you reach the bottom of the world! Control the miner and pick up gems to buy yourself upgrades to make it easier to get there. Make sure to collect fuel cans and avoid the dynamite along the way!
The game features collectable gems (which give money), fuel cans (which give additional fuel), bombs (which explode), and hard rocks (which slow the miner down).
Controls: Movement: A, D or Left and Right Start miner: S Turbo Boost: Space

In the past, I've been a fan of such digging games. A successful entry and of course a perfect match with the theme.
Fun and simple game with a nice play / upgrade flow.
As stated by others, the turning feels way too slow, even with upgrades. In the end I didn't even try to turn and just prayed there were no dynamite, since I couldn't avoid them anyway. Is the turning speed voluntarily this slow or is this a bug (maybe tied to framerate or something?)
I noticed some bugs with the boosts, but hey it's a jam game! Also, I would love it if there were no invisible walls on the side, maybe some looping trick to make it feel like an infinite playground?
Thanks for the game I had fun 💕
Great suggestion on the looping trick! We toyed with the idea but ultimately cut it due to time with how it interacted with the camera. I agree this would be a much more satisfying bounding method - something we possibly should have gone with from the get-go
Glad to hear you thought of this and this was only a question of priorisation. It is always hard to make pertinent feedback after a jam, you never know if all the missing stuff were cut because of time or because people didn't think about it!
Great job again on this
I started hugging the left wall at the beginning to skip most of the dense rocks, then collect the expensive gems deeper down. My highest score was right at 1000.
Fun game, good work!
