Singularity Dive by JmO14
Hello! This is our submission for the Ludum Dare 48.
It's been a couple of fun and exhausting days, but that's what LD is about, the climb to the final game.
This is, for some of us, our third LD together, the second for others, and the first for a few. Nevertheless , we have definitely improved a lot. There is still, as always, a lot to learn and mistakes to be made, but we are very happy with our result.
Singularity Dive is an endless arcade game where you pilot a ship careening towards a black hole while you try to evade obstacles.

We recommend to play the downloaded version since the WebGL one might have some glitches and overall inferior performance.
PS: In case you are wondering why there's a bus in space, the reason is that the 3D team did a little game, where we randomly chose an asset, and that asset had to be in the game no matter what. It was a happy accident.

There could be upgrades like shield level or constantly increasing meteor count would increase replayabilty
other than that good sound choice both for the ambiance and music art is also fabulous I was following you guys devlogs also there were very nice concept arts.
Congratulations to all team members :v:
I felt the speed really well — the slight shake on things made it feel like it was hurtling at me.
After a score of roughly 12000 the music stops playing (which doesn't feel intentional so I a assume it's a bug).
As other commenters said, it is at times kind of hard guessing the distance of obstacles, manly because one doesn't have a reference frame for scale. Maybe that could be avoided with coloring the objects in a different color when collideable, or maybe add some warning markers over the objects, like it where the ships warning systems for a collision, or smth.
Oh and the finish screen, doesn't completely cover the gameview. There is one pixel column missing left and right (good to see at the edges of the accretion disc of the black hole)

I enjoyed the game. I liked the visuals, this blackhole looks really cool and the UI looks nice too. The music fits really well. It was a bit hard at first but after some time it became easier to evaluate the distances and dodge the obstacles. Talking of obstacles, I liked that bus  The few sounds were nice though I wish there were more.
There were a few issues though. I don't know if my computer has a problem, but the game lagged a lot (though it should definitely be able to run a game like that). Also, there's a lack of explanations. I had no idea what I had to do and what were the controls. I would recommend to put them in the description here and on itch.io at least. There is also a very long period during which nothing happens, before the obstacles arrive and the score starts increasing. Again, I'm not sure if it is normal or if my computer took a lot of time loading something, but it was frustrating to press all the keys and see nothing happening, and have no signal to tell me it's going to start.
@quetzakol Thanks for playing and glad you liked it! There are many performance problems in HTML that seem to be a Unity problem and we unfortunately haven't found out how to fix it. The downloaded version should work way better.
You're right that we kinda forgot to put the controls in, sry xD The time between play and the obstacles is a little animation that we can probably speed up a bit cause it does look a little weird.
And about working with 12 different people, it went surprisingly well. In LD47 we had a lot of communication problems but this time we managed the production quite well and we're really satisfied with the end product.
Good graphics and compared to the game me and my team made you kept the player on screen a lot better with your constraints.
The audio levels could have been a bit more kind on the ears, it was kinda loud right off. The song was pretty good and fit well to the vibe.
Overall a great entry for LD48.
Like @poppy-entertainment mentioned, Is kinda hard to understand where the asteroid are going because of perspective view.
The "intro" (ship starting the dive) is nice, but too big and isn't skippable.
