STRAIGHT INTO HELL by DeliciousSalad
An infinite fall into a procedurally generated hell.
WASD, arrow keys, or controller joystick to move. Press the esc key in the Windows build to exit the game.
All scripts and assets aside from the font (https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/2d/fonts/free-pixel-font-thaleah-140059) were created by me using Asesprite, Ableton Live 10, and sfxr.
Enjoy! See how far you can get.

EDIT: Can you beat the dev's high score ;)?

Great job overall!
Awesome game, I really enjoyed it, I think I'll bookmarks this for later, I wanna get further than 3300 :))
Hats off! (and the music is really awesome!)
My initial thought was to make the hitbox the same size as one 'unit' that's used in the procedural generation. That's how it is now, but there are some instances where it feels you just barely hit the edge of a block. I think it would be beneficial to reduce the square size of the hitbox just a tad bit. Otherwise, glad you liked it!
@ariorick
I really wanted to keep the blocks a similar color but also knew the low contrast would cause visibility problems. To /somewhat/ get around this I used a point-light with a decently large radius to cast some yellow light on the blocks that are closer to you to give a bit of contrast. I think what I would change next is to change the fog into a color that brings out the blocks that are a bit further away. Thanks for bringing this up though, I find the contrast problem creeps up on you after it's too late in many cases. I'm glad you enjoyed it otherwise :)
Thanks for the feedback so far everyone, this is my first compo so I'm really happy that my little game is being received as well as it is!
My best score is around the 6k mark! However, the difficulty does cap off around 5k so things won't get any crazier after that (though admittedly... It is pretty insane by that point)
The concept is very addicting, so good choice on that one! Keep it up!
