“10/10 Best shooter experience of 2021.” - IGN
“If I had known about this, I wouldn't have made DOOM...” - id Software, John Romero
“It is definitely a game! 7/5 stars.” - Game Informer
“Why didn’t I make this? It’s a horror masterpiece!” - Guillermo del Toro
“This was always my vision.” - Hideo Kojima

DeadLift, A game made in 48 hours, is our entry for Ludum Dare #48. We are proud to present this chaotic dive into Dr. Badd’s Dreaded asteroid base, Tau Baddma 5! Play as the titular MAX DAMAGE, fight hordes of mutated aliens and experiments gone wrong. All while the platform beneath your feet plummets into the depths of this horrific base. Because after all… the only way out is down!

After missing the last Ludum Dare due to covid and other restrictions, our team was glad to get back into the game making process and stretch our legs again. We had a great time making this and we hope you have a great time playing! This project has become a bit of a proof of concept and something we would like to finish as a full game with more of a progression and story. Initially our scope was definitely too big so we toned it down for the release.

- W,A,S,&D - Movement
- LMB (Hold) - Fires Rifle
- RMB - Fires Shotgun

THANKS FOR PLAYING!

And I would like an option to disable motion blur.
I would really have liked to see hitmarkers of some kind for the gun--particles when the bullets collided with the walls, for example. Because I couldn't tell where my bullets were landing, it was very difficult to aim.
my likes:
* great atmosphere;
* superb audio;
* great visuals in general;
what I'd want:
* better feedback from shooting (bullet trails, hitmarks, recoil);
* brighter flashlight;
* ultra-wide monitor support. some elements not visible in main menu;
:v:
Unfortunately FPS games are not my thing and I couldn't even get past the first crawling green zombie guys (they do look amazing though)
Overall a great job given the time constraints.
I also love the quotes from famous game sites... that kind of humour is right up my alley!
Keep up the good work!!!
With a lot of details, you guys did a great job!
The enemy designs appear to be cool, though with the way the lighting set up, you don't really see them.
The "Game over" probably could use some more feedback that just a grunting sound effect, the screen going dark, and then game automatically restarting.
EDIT: Just realized another problem I have with this game - the enemies are small. Basically to aim at them you have to aim way below the horizon, and lowering your camera kind of gets in the way of spacial awareness.
My cons:
- Please lemme see something
- Please lemme turn motion blur off
All in all, great job, you people nailed it!
Anyway, those voiceover lines were great, especially Kringor's.
The only real drawback this jam version faces is that you can't really process it very well. The darkness is a little too intensive, the audio a little glitchy, the feedback a little lacking, which combines to make it a bit hard to really grasp everything that's happening. All of that is solidly down to polish and refinement though, and I have no doubt if you do decide to keep going with it the end result will be a blast to play through.
I think it's really good for a jam game, and a great start at something more. Awesome job!
I was unable to understand the voice over as it blended in with the music and sound effects.
The only thing that i should say it's about the ilumination/flashlight - too dark for me, could be interesting if you increase or the flashlight luminosity or the enviroment just a little bit.
Despite that, is a amazing game! Congrats.
The gameplay is fast and frantic, I like it! Some enemies are indeed impossible to see, maybe they could have some small emitting lightsource attached to them.
Died to the boss, but had a blast until then! I wish I could've started again right from the boss and finish the game, but was not too inclined to play through everything else again.
Overall, a really impressive and polished experience, well done!
As some people mentioned, it was too dark sometimes and it was hard to spot all the enemies (especially the small shooting ones) but it wasn't such a big deal.
still had a lot of fun with it!
