|| WE ARE CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH UI SCALING! WORKING ON THE FIX ||

Thank you for taking a look at my LD48 submission!

BLU is an oceanic take on the theme, 'Deeper and Deeper'. You play as a mining Submarine, searching for the long lost treasure that had sunk to the bottom of the trench.

Your Submarine can only withstand certain pressure before you will crumple, so upgrading your equipment is a must. Since the Submarine isn't designed for long expeditions, the oxygen levels will deplete rather quickly, so it is useful to upgrade this as well.

To collect money to upgrade your equipment you must harvest and sell ores and resources. Search and discover the ores using your light, as when an ore enters your light's radius, it will become visible to what ore it is. When hovering over the ore, left clicking will harvest it. You can then sell your resources while in your inventory, and once surfaced, you can purchase the necessary upgrades needed.

CONTROLS: WASD to Move. E to Open Inventory. Left Click to Harvest Ores.

I really liked the way the submarine headlights revealed the colors of silhouetted objects. Also appreciate the polish that went into the menus and UI. Great job!

I like this a lot, the resources and upgrade system is nice. The movement has a weird acceleration sometimes though which made it harder and less satisfying to control.

Ever since I saw your post on Day 1ish, I was looking forward to playing it! I definitely love the graphics in this game and how the lights reveal things, even the fish swimming by (greatt touch) I just wish there was a nice submarine song to go with it, but overall, it was a fun game to play!

This was fun! I really enjoyed the color masking you did on the lights, and the way that it reacted not only with the ore, but with other background elements as well.

My only frustration was that due to the slow changing of direction, it got annoying to dive down to the level of an ore, scan it with the light, then move back up ~5m to go pick it up. I think if the lights were aiming at a slight down angle, it would have been a more enjoyable experience.

I also died 4 or 5 times at the beginning from the depth, because I didn't realize I wasn't seeing the full UI. Once I fullscreened the game, I saw what was happening. You might want to put a bold disclaimer in your game description letting people know to fullscreen it.

Depending on how you were doing your UI in Unity, you may be able to solve this in the future by changing the UI scale mode to "Scale with Screen Size" (or "Constant Physical Size" with a reference to the camera).

@andrewkennedy Thanks for the feedback. I realized after submission the problem with screen size but thanks for the fix. Will try to make it work.

Nice man! Love that you also went with a submarine themed game, although yours ended up much more finished lol
Congrats on finishing this, game has a lot of potential!

I love the light mechanic and how you can see the true texture.

At first, I tried the browser game, but the sizing was off, I couldn't see the health, so I downloaded the game and it worked.

The game was fun and the graphics are great. I either didn't understand the oxygen use or it's bugged because after it was depleted I went to the surface to refill and bought 1 oxygen upgrade. After that, the oxygen was full all the time and I kept going down mining, selling resources and buying resistance, until I finished the game(never needing to go up for air).

Overall a good game, good job.

@mololo Yes there is currently a bug with the oxygen that allows for infinite oxygen. Currently fixing but thanks for the heads up and the feedback.

Classic run/upgrade loop. Works well.
It gets a bit repetitive after a few dives, but fortunately the bottom is not so deep, so it doesn't take hours to get the treasure.

Bonus points for the light effect (I'm a bit jealous. I had that in mind for my own game, but 1. I don't know how to do it yet, 2. I didn't get to develop my game enough to reach a point where it would have been useful).

I played in the browser and also had issues with the HUD being off the screen, but I got to play around a little bit. It's a cool game, I didn't get very far, but I like the look of it!

This was a cool take on the classic "dig and upgrade" gameplay. The art is good and I really liked the "lighting effect" showing the different colors etc.

One improvement I'll suggest is adding a small "bottom light" so we can see the ore we're currently harvesting. Took me a while to understand I was supposed to be on top of the ore to harvest it.

UI wise, it's pretty clean, but I'll suggest adding a "quit' button in the inventory, since every interaction is "mouse only" in this menu, it felt pretty weird to use the E key to close it. The "max depth" your hull can handle could be displayed under your current depth, as health go down very quickly and I didn't have enough time to react.

Overall, cool little game !

The thing I liked the most in this game was the light, very well done. The graphics are also great to look at. I felt the movement a little bit rough, didn't feel so fluid as it was supposed to be underwater, at least for me. Great game!

the webGL version is cut-off if you're not in full screen, which meant i didn't get to see the life bar and didn't realize i was taking damage at all

Nice Game!!

Your game has a similar concept to mine, but yours is much more thoughtful and methodical, where mine is more silly and you crash around (no penalty for crashing)

Upgrade system gives you choices as to how to upgrade the submarine

Cool take on the submarine concept, reminds me of those drill games where you have to upgrade your drill. Great job!

Great game, I loved the light revealing stuff. I feel like it's a bit hard to harvest the elements, I don't feel it's clear enough that you have to be on top of it to do it.

Anyway, it's a really nice submission. Congrats!

Hey, I had similar idea for my game, check it out if you want. Mine is more action-oriented though. Your's more polished. I like the graphics and the mechanism of revealing resources with the light. The controls were a little unresponsive though. I know this is probably by design, but I think it's too much. Overall, great work!

Good game, I like the spotlight mechanic to find the resources. Also love the graphics, and the schools of fish randomly swimming past :fish: A warning when your oxygen starts getting low would be good. Excellent entry.

I really liked how the submarine had inertia, made it feel really substantial. The light mechanic was a nice touch too, although I think it would have worked a lot better if it illuminated the area you can harvest - it was faster to harvest materials by looking for the shapes and not even bothering to illuminate them first.
