Way Down We Go by Slowfrog Again

[raw]
made by Slowfrog Again for Ludum Dare 48 (COMPO)

Go on an exploration in your pinkish submarine. Gather fish and trophies. Will you dare to go Deeper and deeper?

You can definitely finish the game in 2'30", which is the length of the music theme I wrote.

Made with godot, aseprite, sfxr, cubase. With help from git, filezilla, notepad++. screenshot.png

I might not get it, but I blew my submarine twice :) The music and the minimal graphics are super! Congrats :)

I love the pixel art and the water changing colour, and of course the awesome ocean themed music.

I couldn't figure out how to not blow up

Keep up the good work!

Thanks all for playing.
As for the content of the game: if you got the six trophies, you've seen it all.

Fun little game. Wish there would have been a bit more to it. Great art, and some lovely music!

@too-lazy-cat, @nivosin My initial plan was for a game in three distinct acts, that let you go deeper and deeper in mystery and in yourself. And even in the first act, you were supposed to have a fish-o-dex, with different species of fish to gather. As you can understand from the actual result, time was a bit short to make it happen so I decided to wrap up with what I had.

I loved the music! Seeing some fish further down from the starting area would have made a better incentive to go deeper and emphasize the theme a bit more instead of spending most of my time near the top. This has a lot of potential though, I like the concept!

Graphics and audio are pretty well but I think game lacks of some kind of mechanic.

Fun, relaxing game. There wasn't too much incentive to dive deeper, but I had fun collecting the fish. The music was really nice too and fit very well.

Well done on getting achievements in there, that's not something I've seen often in Jams. Looks like you ran out of time as when I went deeper there weren't any fish. I like the dimming of the water to show you're going into the depths. cool start to a game, hopefully you get to add all the things you wanted to

Really liked the pixel art and animation. Music and audio were well suited. The variety of achievements provided some fun objectives to explore. The one issue I ran into was that after blowing up and dying I couldn't get out of the trophy display and restart the game.

Nice pleasant game. The sound effect for catch fish is snippy and satisfying, which is super important. Not especially challenging, and of course it would be nice to see more fish and do some more exploration if the game were expanded.

Nice little game, one doesn't know the dangers of exploring too far :). I didn't know what to expect, so I liked the athmosphere of going so deep and dark, with the surprising ending. Nicely done!

I'm a sucker for achievements, so I just had to 100% it. Very glad your definition of "all the fish" is 100, not the estimated 3,500,000,000,000 in the world's oceans. You have more restraint than the people who design the achievements for some AAA games...

nice game! I loved the graphics and the music. The game feel nice to play, in the sense that it's chill and relaxing
I though the "achievements" you can unlock was a nice touch, you rarely see that in LD games

congrats for your entry!

@caeonosphere, @emeraldboy44, @dotsquare The achievements are basically the only thing that make this a *game*. If it weren't for those, you'd be left with an animated sprite that can move  I've been learning Godot for a few weeks, so I'm not very fluent with it, but I'm still glad with my limited result. Hopefully I'll be more prepared in October for LD49.

Thanks all for playing and rating.

Liked the music, the sound effects, and the humor. I think I collected all 6 trophies, but I'm not sure if I actually did everything.
