Unfortunately, I couldn't complete the game due to the unresponsive controls. I only made about 10 runs.

But I enjoyed this take on a basic platformer shooter.

Thank you for your game, you did a great job!

The controls are a little rough. There's not a lot of air control so it's hard/impossible to evade the enemies when they're too close.

I quite like the music and the clean and coherent visuals.

The game looks interesting, but I couldn't get very far.

No matter how hard I tried, these insects really want me dead!

And, when jumping, the character starts the jump without moving from the spot on the X-axis. When trying to run from the insects, this jump gave them an advantage.

Anyway, keep up the good work!

I really liked the retro arcade presentation! The title screen and graphics are really fun, and it definitely felt like playing on an old cabinet or something.

The actual game, though, I didn't get a lot out of. It's pretty basic gameplay, and the one unique mechanic (the lures) is cool and helps with crowd control, but doesn't amount to all that much. The movement is also a bit clunky, slowing you down whenever you shoot or land from a jump. I was glad for the controller support because D-pad really fit the retro vibe, but it was awkward to have to manually redo all the binds to make that work.

I love the aesthetic though! Keep it up :)

Great arcade game!
The controls are a bit complicated. I have trouble jumping while moving and controlling my character in the air. But I still managed to get a score of 17!

Anyway, well done, I had a lot of fun playing it! :D

Scored 40 siguls after few tries (mhhhh onions XD)
Controls / cooldown felt a bit odd at first but it's manageable once used to and reminds some old games. For some reason i couldn't shoot up at first game ; i then had to extract it twice because running it a second time in first folder show "openbor" screen; didn't know that game engine, cool !
Not sure i understood if red signals just indicate the bulbs location or did i miss something ?
Cool game!

Good game! The core loop is functional. You don't go easy on the player either—it's quite a brutal start! :eyes: With a bit more 'juice' and a smoother difficulty curve, it would be even better. Congrats on finishing the jam! :tada:

This little Contra looks nice and plays nice, though the difficulty should accelerate over time because right now you can shoot everything from below every time with no pressure. Binding to the numpad by default is a bit diabolical in a world dominated by TKL keyboards and laptops. The highlight of the game is the art direction and its surrealness: the viking commando shooting with a telescope, the butt flies, and the colorful onions, I mean the siguls.

The art is really cool for a 3 days jam! Simple and fun game, jumping and shooting and we need no more. Congratulations!

For one person, this is a really good effort!

Respect for trying to mix it up with the controls a bit, though it took a bit of getting used to. Gameplay was smooth and responsive and the game ran well. The aesthetic and setting are really interesting too!

Almost has a quasi-Contra style game feel. With some tightening up here and there, it could be very interesting.

Thank you for sharing! Looking forward to see what you will do with it from here!

Liked the music a lot, and the gameplay overall was well done. My only major comment is that I would have liked slightly faster movement (or a run option) -- it self hard to maneuver around enemies without that.

The game has a strong sense of immersion as soon as you enter, and the music is very atmospheric and powerful. The scenes are relatively simple but clear and understandable.
They seem like multiple onion heads? I think it's quite interesting, hahaha. If the guidance performance could be stronger, it would be even better.

The first thing that caught my attention in your game was the colors. Vibrant colors! The graphics are beautiful, even though they're simple. They're meticulously crafted. The music creates an atmosphere that makes you want to keep playing and always keep going.

If I had to criticize something, I'd say that not being able to change direction after jumping is a drawback. If you want to jump over an enemy, that's bad. You just jump upwards and the enemy hits you. If this feature was implemented, I couldn't activate it. I lost several times because of that. If it wasn't implemented, it's something to consider. For this type of game, escaping quickly is vital.

Congratulations!

The art style is so unique and colorful, and the overall designs are also very fun. Add to that the song you have selected, which fits the game very well, and you have an overall chill and engaging gameplay experience. It was fun playing your game, and the dodging and shooting was fun throughout my playthrough!
