:runner: :fire: LUMIRIC CHASE :fire: :runner:

In Lumiric Chase, you are trapped in a limbo between awakening to fulfill your dreams and the temptation to surrender to your shadows, vices, and eternal stagnation. Your only chance to end this nightmare is to seek a Signal—a light that guides your path toward a better life. Through Lumira, the Guardian of Light, you can receive the signal you need and the energy to manifest your dreams, symbolized in this dreamscape by a Bonfire. Light the fire to awaken the portal and leave behind a world where signals are ignored.

Lumiric Chase is an asymmetrical multiplayer game. One player takes the form of the Shade, a representation of those Dreamers who neglected their dreams and became trapped in the void. They have been converted by "dream extractors" on an island tormented by Ilutox, an entity that feeds on the flames of anyone who dares to dream. While the Shade hunts, the Dreamers seek out Lumira—the guardian of good who constantly emits signals, providing the flame necessary for everyone to make their dreams come true.

Quick Tips for Players: Asymmetrical 1v4: One player hosts as the Shade, others join as Dreamers.

Solo Testing: You can open the game twice on your PC to test both roles using localhost.

The Goal: Dreamers must carry Lumira's flame to the Bonfire, while the Shade must sabotage the signal to keep everyone in the dar

📡 THE THEME: SIGNAL

For us, a Signal isn't just tech—it's a desperate cry for help. When you find the light, the first thing you'll hear is: "Help me! Give me a signal!" The game is about that struggle: keeping your signal alive (your Bonfire) while the "Noise" (The Shade) tries to jam your frequency and keep you trapped in the void forever.

🔥 HOW TO PLAY

  1. Beg for a Sign: Find Lumira. She is the source. If she answers, you get the Lumiric Flame.
  2. Light the Beacon: Take that flame to your Bonfire. It’s your lighthouse. Feed it until it’s strong enough to break the silence.
  3. Fight the Stagnation: The Shade will kick your bonfire to make your signal fade. Don't let it.
  4. The Choice: Once your signal is 100%, you are safe. But will you Wake Up alone or stay in the dark to help your friends find their way?

🎨 ART & TEAM

This is a special one! First time my wife is helping me with art in a game jam! She’s doing the pixel art in Aseprite.

⚔️ THE ROLES

  • Dreamers: Collect charges, heal at Lumira, and fuel your beacon. If the Shade hits you, you lose 50% of your signal.

  • The Shade: You are the interference. Sabotage the bonfires and keep them lost in the static. You can't enter the light of a finished signal.

At first, I didn't know what to do; I was walking around and found a campfire, walked a little further and found a fairy and a fascinating fire (laughs), then I put the pieces together and understood what I should do. There are some audio and collision bugs, but nothing that prevents you from playing. I managed to finish it.

There are some audio issues and a few bugs (the Settings button inside the Settings screen overlaps the menu), and the gameplay isn’t always easy to read — but it’s still playable.

Visually, the game isn't bad, but the gameplay is pretty basic and boring. And at first, it's not clear what you're supposed to do.

Hey guys! The game is multiplayer — sorry for not explaining that clearly.

As a Dreamer, you need to reach Lumira (the blue fairy). She will give you the Lumiric Flame, which you must use to light a Bonfire so you can leave.

As the Shade, you need to sabotage the Dreamers and extract their Lumiric Flame until you fill up your bar.

It's a multiplayer game: the first player needs to choose the Shade, then up to 4 other players can join as Dreamers.

I don't know if it's because im on linux or the game is buggy but I couldn't manage to play a single round properly. Making a multiplayer game for a jam is no joke so it's kinda cool

@termegus Thanks for playing our game! And yeah, there were so many things to do in just 2 days. Too many bugs, but at least we managed to publish it on time. When you said you "couldn't manage to play a single round properly," do you mean the game crashed or you just didn't understand how to finish a match?

I could only launch the game as the Shadow; I couldn't play as the Dreamers. I still don't understand why. Maybe it's because it's a multiplayer game? How do I launch it with someone else?

I didn't get a chance to play it in multiplayer, but I did run around and explore the map solo. As far as I can tell, it's something like Dead by Daylight
I get the idea.

Thanks for your game!

@alexey-bobrovskiy Yeah, its beause is multiplayer... Someone else need to host the match as Shade. I'll try to let a Shade always online, sou you can try it. Thanks anyway :)

@yarcha Thanks! And yeah, the Dead by Daylight is a great inspiration for assymetrical games <3

I'll try to add a way to test as Dreamer, even as some kind of single player. I guess nobody is testing the game because of this multiplayer limitation. :/

I can try to test with you. Ping me on the server I just created: https://discord.gg/WazuQwwC

The progress bar of the kitten is so cute! The sound effect has been processed dynamically and is very detailed.Besides, the main character is a little fluffy ball and is very adorable.

I tried ti play but didn't understand what should happen. I simply run through the location and don't understand what to do with flames.

I had to wait until I could get my brother around so he and I could play together. The very fact you did multiplayer in a gamejam is noteworthy. Definitely like others I see the dead by daylight reference, and I think this game can be a blast if you gather 5 people.

@zhangzhimu Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the dynamic sound and the 'fluffy' Borg :)

@ryrumeli Sorry for the confusion! Since it's an asymmetrical multiplayer, the mechanics are tied to the roles: As a Dreamer, you need to find Lumira (the source), grab the flame, and carry it to the Bonfire to charge your signal. It’s a 1v4 hunt! If you're solo, try opening the game twice on your PC to see how the Shade and Dreamers interact. I'll work on a better tutorial/guide for the final version! Thanks for trying it out!

@ryrumeli You’re a legend for bringing your brother in to test it! Networking is a massive challenge, so I really appreciate you noticing that. You nailed it—Dead by Daylight was a huge inspiration! We’re planning to expand this into a full Steam release soon with better matchmaking. If you want to join our journey, we just started a Discord: https://discord.gg/WazuQwwC. Thanks for the support!
