You discover a video signal from an unknown source. Strange letters appear on screen, not a language you recognize, as haunting sounds emit from the speakers. You attempt to decode the symbols from the mysterious transmission.

This is a very well-made game, but it took me quite a while to figure out what to do. Plus, English isn't my native language, so I couldn't match all the letters.

Great mood! We had fun decoding all the messages -with ample use of the pause button mind you! We couldn't figure out how to access Challenge mode. Is that just playing with no pausing?

@sirlich I'm glad you liked it! Challenge mode is hidden on the bottom of monitor screen on the main menu. It gives you a time limit and disables pausing, among other things.

Incredible game with an amazing atmosphere, succeeded in decode the message the first time with the help of a white board, but couldn't make it in time.
The fact that the letters are randomized between runs prevented me from cheesing it too much on subsequent runs which helps with replayability.
Challenge mode seems to be insanely hard.

Awesome atmosphere to this one! I really enjoyed how the environment gradually got more and more scary as you solved more of the cipher. Great work on the vibe of this game!

I started the game in advanced mode and immediately (I mean immediately) gave up. I am not cut out for that sort of thing.

Nice job!

"An incredibly polished, creative, and on-theme piece of work. I’ve spent a huge amount of time cracking these codes, and the game is truly a breath of fresh air

You took 40 minutes of my time — how do you plan to give it back? It’s not fair to make such immersive, atmospheric games for a game jam :smirk:

Flawless atmosphere building in this, feels like stressful and compelling at the same time! Core mechanic works well and the writing's super well put together from like a design point of view of giving players enough to work things out!

great idea and its execution! we had a similar idea, but we decided to go with a different one, so I'm glad someone implemented it. I love games where you have to write something down in a notebook IRL. when they say "we are coming," it becomes truly creepy. the reactions of the environment also add to the atmosphere. great submission!

Great game! I knew it was a little suspect early, but wow, very ominous. Really clever way to do the theme, and successfully solved it - though challenge mode looks a bit much for me!

Nice work! Great idea and execution, even as a non-native English speaker, I was able to get through it smoothly, and the atmosphere really stood out too. We also did something with translating signals as well, but you pulled it off better. Well done!

Great idea, both for the game and presentation. Definitely helps to use pencil and paper here to finish hahahah. The light moving gives an amazing vibe a generic UI wouldn't be able to, and the explosions and changes in mood tell the story perfectly. Definitely an amazing entry with a fun concept and execution.

what great entry!
I managed to decode the message, being a bit annoyed that the messengers do not care much about me and send the messages with the letters I already know instead of using the new ones :D stangely the world that took me the longes was (spoilers) "s*****s" — for some reason I couldn't see it at first. but it was very understanding of them to wait for me until I decoded the message haha. I expected the game would end if I didn't do it before the last message ends!

the atmosphere is simply incredible, especially these small sound and visual effects, they really got me a couple of times! i am impressed how you achieved it without even showing any antagonist.
and the theme implementation is just spot on. thank you for the experience!

Thanks for adding the pause option! Great atmosphere, the visuals and sounds really work together

This was very immersive! I did wonder if the game is on a timer despite the pause ability, so I went back, took notes on each letter's introducion to eliminate all delay in decoding and did a perfect run as soon as the last letter can be determined. I guess there's no good ending for me :)
