BPM, Bionica Pro Mortis, is a cyberpunk rhythm duel game built around two asynchronous biometric signals. The player controls a cybernetic fencer whose survival and actions are governed by an ECG signal.
Read the enemy’s heartbeat to defend, follow your own to strike, and survive as both rhythms accelerate toward chaos.

GAMEPLAY
In this game, the signals control everything. When a signal reaches the center marker, you must act.

The blue signal influences your strikes. The red signal influences your parries.

Character's animations are almost instant, so you can press both parry and strike at the same time, they would work if the input is detected in the window of the signal.
Actually, if you randomly press actions and fail, they would go on cooldown and you might miss the next one or two inputs (depending on the pace of the combat you're on).
Thanks for playing! We plan to add more variations and interactions if this prototype is to your liking :v:
But I have problems:
Invalid binary data file size! (offset=347, size=19995397, file length=5075039)
If only i had game pad..... Addictive game with cool art direction and simple visuals, just the right type for the ludum dare. Wish we had more movement like left/right directions and jumping!
@aashen, without a gamepad, you can still enjoy it with the main controls on the mouse, but you get limited access to the critical mechanics, which were kind of a pain in the ass to design for the keyboard. Any suggestion about a better binding?
About the movement. Well, at first we were designing a versus fighting game, but with the first prototype we realize the signal was useless, so we pivoted and looked for something more about rhythm where the signal is th main character
The design and aesthetic was great, and the music fit very well. Great job overall!

@artur-hawkwing, great reference that we had no idea it even exists! thanks for the feedback!
One thing I found strange - tutorial windows that close by mouse click. As the main gameplay is about clicking the mouse on time, I think it would be better to close tutorial windows with another key or by button in ui so you won't accidently close tutorial (as i did several times haha).
Also agree with a guy in the comment above - it's hard to click on 2 opposite signals in one time with one hand. Maybe there is no problem when playing on gamepad, but on PC it would be better if you could use keyboard instead of mouse. But still a good entry! :smile_cat:
THe game is well designed with a really cool concept that is working well ! It's beginning difficult a bit too soon for me though
Nice work to the whole team!
Great job!
Cannot beat the 5th guy, I got lost in the input. Which is cool ! There not that many input but you still find way to make the game feel difficult but not unfair, and all of this in a game jam ! Congrats!
I'm not a big fan of rhythm games, so gameplay didn't quite hit me. Though I really liked the art and overall game feeling
Good job
Here we wrote our first devlog if you wanna know more: https://flowerfield-games.itch.io/bpm/devlog/1497616/bpm-devlog-1-pivoting-after-day-1
Really nice to see via the devlog how you made the game from scratch.
Not surprising how cool the game is coming from you :)
