Bitcatcher by freamdev
In bitcatcher you control a receiver moving inside a data stream, catching bits as they pass by and trying to assemble valid codewords before the timer runs out. The bits come in as a stream of 0s and 1s, and your job is to position yourself, pick the right ones, and build sequences like 0110110 without making mistakes, keep an eye out for the elusive Quantum bits.

Changelog(2026.04.20): Fixed a bug that caused slower machines to load in the manager classes too late and was unable to reset the bit speeds making the game unplayable.

@barnabewild I was struggling a lot with the camera angle, I think if i were to do it again I would definitely do something more always right behind the receiver. Thanks for commenting! :slight_smile:
Very reminiscent of beat saber, but with bits... Bit Saber?
@helslo Bit Saber... where was you when I was struggling to come up with a name 2 in the morning?! I think you and @graebor both onto something with being able to just slice off a bit from words, maybe would of made it a more fun/more decisions game. Thank you both for playing!
@mahalis I think you also got the bug where the bits don't slow down after the main menu and they are too fast to catch correctly, you should have a couple of seconds between spawning and reaching you, hope I can nail that bug down one of these days and publish a non annoying version. Really like the idea of projecting your hitbox and maybe light up if you will collide with the box... thanks for the comment :slight_smile:
@jk5000 Thank you for playing!
@geckoo1337 Oh damn, I was sure I uploaded it, will fix it when I get home, thank you for reminding me and playing! :heart:
I also had some difficulty playing, but did ok-ish (~400 points). I usually focused on one or two words max, so maybe starting with only one short word and progressively spawning in more and longer options while slowly increasing the game speed could help the player onboard better?
I almost never tried to go for the red squares. I understand their intent, but I feel like they should not be as abundant as they are, as the player wants to *build* words, not *remove*, right? So it felt a bit like something one must avoid to hit 90% of the time.
The visuals and the music hit exactly the right tone and are very enjoyable (though the music imo would need a tad more variety in a larger release).
Well done!
Managed to get just over 500 on my second try, the online scoreboard is good, i always struggle putting them in to my game.
Challenging skill based games are the best.
Nice simple but snazzy graphics.
Audio was funky but felt quite repetitive, I think a little bit of a longer loop or more in-game sound effects would add a lot.
Overall this was a good entry, I had a lot of fun!
