Pocketropolis by deathray

[raw]
made by deathray for LD34 (JAM)
Manage a city on a calm, small, tan planet.

Controls:
B = Change action, Cycle between menu options
A = Perform the selected action, Select a menu option

How to play:
1- Build Logging sites to cut down trees into Rat Materials ("MAT")
2- Demolish unused Logging sites to free up workers
3- Build houses to get more population ("POP")
4- Convert Materials into Goods ("GDS") with an Industrial building
5- Explore and take over the entire planet!

(This was going to be a Compo game, but I ran out of time. All graphics and code by me, in less than 48hrs total dev time.)

Nice game!. It's a little confusing when you go left and the world going right (could you move all around?)

I love games where you can build something. Only thing that is irritating is moving left and right.

This was quite fun, but lacked a little challenge/variety. would probably have worked best as a mobile game actually as suggested by the name :D (even though it's imitating a handheld console)

Interesting. A nice little city builder.
My main issue with the game would be that, rather than the game having been designed to take advantage of the theme (two buttons), the theme seems to significantly hinder the enjoyment factor of the game, slowing down gameplay and making even basic actions rather tedious.
Of course, it fits the other theme perfectly, which I think is even more reason to ditch the two-button theme seeing as how it detracts from the core experience of your game. :)

The Compo version is a bit slow. I also felt like the two button was a little forced and was not helpful for the game.

I like the idea of it though, and haven't played the post-compo version which I imagine is improved.
