Growing Weed by MorganLeFay

[raw]
made by MorganLeFay for LD34 (COMPO)
As the declaimer says: I do not support drugs! It's just something that came to mind when I heard the theme and it's supposed to be fun.

This is my first gamejam submission ever and even though it might not be perfect I'm super happy about it!

You can click on the plants to get weed, too.
If you play for some time and unlock certain things there will be police actions, too. Lawyers are the last thing you can reach.

If you want to let the game play in the background it's possible. But it only works if other windows are on top of it but it's the active tab on the browser. So don't leave it open on another tab but in another window.

You can read about my devlog and my recap of Ludum Dare 34 here:
http://bvhunnius.de/?p=136

Game should run on Chrome and Firefox, IE is not tested.

UPDATE 15.12.2015
Fixed performance issues by changing Phaser from AUTO to CANVAS and removing some stupid and unnecessary function calls.

Great idea and game.
It would be good to see what each of the items will do.
I see potential in the game and I think you should continue to work on it.
The game seems to like to consume cpu power ;)

Very nice strategy game. You had me watch the prices hit 140s. It would have been nice ot have a storage limit.

For a games like this I'd like more statistics. How much I have already sold. How much each plant produces (is there difference)? What each item does, etc.. But it's already nice as it is, leaving it open in the background :)

Thank you for all your comments so far!

@chrizdekok: I started to implement tooltips, but that wasn't working to well so I abandoned it for now, but I will try to add them at a later point.

@scars377: You'll regain the music once you have more than 9 plants again.

@rplnt: Statistics are a nice idea for a future feature, I'll think about that. Leaving it open in the background sadly only works when other programs are on top of it and not when you change tabs

It was fun but I hit the performance issues before the police came. Still I made over $300K before then.

While I enjoyed playing through it, at it's core it's a clicker. Oh and it lags my pc after a while, which a simple game like this shouldn't. Good Luck!

I like the theme :D It would be cool to know exactly how the game works. The numbers seemed to change randomly. I couldn't really figure out what was going on. Still fun!

Fun and addictive! It definitely has that sort of "clicker" appeal (which is not a bad thing). If you're planning on updating it, I think it would be nice to have a background image or something. As others have said, tooltips would also be nice.

Full points for audio. The first game with an acceptable volume and even the option to disable it!

Fun game, a bit relaxing. But after some time it started to flicker a bit :(

Didn't read the instructions so for ages didn't realise I could click plants for week :) Had to look at the source code before I realised. Cool addictive game.

@nopogo: At the moment Lawyers are the last thing you can reach. Thanks for playing this far!

Cool take on the theme. As I said on the stream, it would be cool if you pushed the presentation a bit more, to make it more appealing and addictive. But the basis is there, the premise is funny and the game was overall enjoyable.

I get high on this.

Nice economic simulation. Needs a few more strategic factory like police awareness or something like that. :)

This gets better the more you play :) It felt really slow in the start, but once I got that you could click the plants to get some extra boost I was a centillionare :)

LOL, that was hilarious, but it gets boring very fast because it's really difficult to obtain money.
