Someone is in the middle of a block dropping puzzle game, but they're about to lose. It is inevitable. Wait, what is that? A time rift?! Maybe you could use that to prolong their game..

-- CONTROLS --

Mouse: Click to create a time rift, drag away from the center to rewind time. Release to confirm.

Tip: You can get fine-grained control of the rewind point by dragging perpendicularly away from the main axis (for example, click and drag horizontally to get near the target you want, then drag up/down to fine-tune the selection)

Really unique theme idea! Cute and satisfying graphics and sounds, challenging gameplay and good replayability.

As someone who doesn't play a lot of match 3s, it took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out that the goal is to match three of the same tile, rather than fill a row (as in another well known unnamed block falling game).

Also possibly a very minor bug - I noticed that it seems the check for matches only happens after a block has touched the one below and not after a time warp. So when I did a time warp that resulted in a match, it didn't "consume" the match until the next block landed on top of it. I couldn't work out how to reproduce that situation again though.

Overall a really fun idea!

@jordwest thanks! Likely what you experienced was matches not clearing until the currently dropping piece lands. It may look like a match doesn't clear until it's updated or something else, but probably a new piece spawned up above, and no matches will clear until everything settles.

It's always a pleasure to discover your new ideas! I had a tetris game idea (but went to a total different direction) because it suited the theme so well but what you did is clever and original. Nice work!

As others have said, really unique experience! It was bit confusing, but fun anyway. Also this is one of the best looking jam games I have ever played! Great work

Tried my best.

Really interesting idea. It is so frustrating for the AI to move the piece at the last moment lol ...

Thanks for the game :D

Honestly not a bad puzzle game by itself, If someone who has a bigger brain than me plays this they would be able to go forever. Love the art style!

This is a cool game, but requires you to think a lot! I managed to get up to 310, it becomes quite a soup at that point :)

It fits the theme really well, and is probably the most unique entry I've seen this far!

Great job!

The game looks stunning! Oddly enough I did something similar with the theme.
I think it'd make the game easier to understand if the mechanics worked a bit more like Tetris, not a match-3 game. Right now it feels like it's just a bit random how the game is going to develop.
Apart from the mechanic, every other aspect of the game (visuals, game-feel, sounds) is great!

Super unique and innovative! I've never played anything quite like this and while it was extremely difficult for me to score high it was really engaging to play. I like it!

Really unique concept, wouldn't have thought to mix match 3s and time travel. Admittedly took me a sec to figure out how to play (since I didn't read the description :P) but I got the hang of it quickly enough. Great work as always!

Took a bit to figure out the strategy but got there eventually. Super cool stuff.

Very cool mechanic! felt a bit limited though when the "stored time" resets after every use, but fun non the less.

An original concept, quite challenge!
Mechanics can lead to complex thoughts and bright a lot of depth in gameplay.

Congrats!

Turning the concept of something - that feels puyo-puyo-like in its puzzle style - around by letting the game play itself and then making the real puzzle game concept something totally different is brilliant!

This is definitely easy to learn but hard to master!

The concept is really original but the game is sooo challenging.
I love the graphics. It's really well polished!

great (hard) game :p

The concept is very unique, I really love the possibilities that little time rift offers to the player, not only being capable of rewind time, also make appear new pieces or vanishing others.

Its fun, challening and super original.

I loved it.

Wow, what a nice entry! I love the sounds, they are kind of cute. I didn't get it at first, but after 3 game overs and after read the description, I started to understand, haha. Anyway, it's a great puzzle and I found it difficult. Is there any way to win? It would be awesome

Really nice graphics and game feel. I didn't really get how to play well, but I think I'm just not puzzle-minded enough. Awesome work though, really impressive compo entry!

Got a 420 high score!

Definitely just tried playing the puzzle game at first, and then just had to get used to how the time square could change things you wouldn't normally expect in the puzzle game (like cutting up pieces, reusing pieces, etc). nice job!

very interesting idea! there's definitely a lot of strategy to be utilized here, certainly not an easy game. it quickly becomes challenging to remember what happened in the past and how to use that info effectively. maybe needs a slightly more forgiving speed increase?

anyways, i always love seeing your submissions! great work as always

really cool mechanic, it plays a more like a puzzle game than a normal strategy/tile matching game imo which was interesting. the art and sounds are suuuuuuuper nice too, great work.

I just gave out my first 5-star in innovation for the whole jam! This was a really, REALLY clever idea. I love it.

I think personally for me the gameplay was just a little slow, it could use maybe faster paced.

Graphics were solid and pleasing. This was great overall, nice job!

the graphics are really well made, i like the wavy effect when you reverse time.

This is an extremely clever, brain bending take on a match-3 style puzzler. The time void being a 9x9 square takes a bit of getting used to, but once you get comfortable placing it and acting in time with the falling blocks there's a lot of strategy. The player managing the pieces is... not a real winner. That means you've got to keep an eye on where they're dropping pieces and avoid tall stacks. I think I'm as bad at managing the time void as the computer player is matching, so in that way our demise does feel wholly inevitable. Really well done.
