The design is very interesting. However, sometimes I can't figure out which of the obtained dice is the upgraded one, or if all the dice have changed. The attack slots and defense slots seem to have similar comprehension issues, which sometimes leads me to make decisions rather casually. Overall, it's a fantastic game, and I really like the art style.

We’re really happy that you enjoyed the art, music, and gameplay - it means a lot to us.

Overall, we’re happy with how the jam version turned out, and most likely we’ll be working on an post-jam version with more content

@justuspan

Thank you for the thoughtful feedback! Thing about dice visuals is already on our notes list. We didn’t have time during the jam to add proper visual distinctions between different dice types, so for now only the colors change

Hey it was really cool ! Maybe a bit unbalanced because i easily steamrolled the last enemies but I still really enjoyed it ! I think a bit more explanation could have been cool because at first i felt a bit lost on how upgrades worked but the idea is really cool and you've already built a fun game :)

Damn, this is some cool pixelart. Could use two more background musics, one for the background change and one for the final boss, to make it more intense

This is, in my opinion, the best game in the entire jam. The design is pure genius — I never imagined that a few simple dice combined with different weapons could create such a brilliant effect. Please, you have to make a full version! This game has huge potential. I really hope to see more content added — more upgrade options and random events would make it even better.

The game is pretty easy, but that could be a ludum dare thing - it's safer to make an easier game so everyone can finish it. At the same time, I thought I could not lose if I don't screw up too much.
The art style of this game is cool.

The art is gorgeous with the dark mood. The music adds a great bit to the atmosphere. I made it to the end and won. The game is easy, but I think it's still fun to "solve". Dragging dice is a bit tedious due to the hitboxes of the slots being slightly off. I was a bit confused by some of the upgrades as it appears when I took a different weapon, I guess I swapped weapons which was confusing as I couldn't see what weapon was equipped. I assume that's why skip is an option. Overall, it's a really good game. The game has a lot of potential.

This is a 5 star game, dead simple. I love the unique artstyle, the music, the overall atmosphere. I truly forgot this is a Ludum Dare entry.

The game was super easy, yet you added so many items, so many insanely cool graphics! I would looooove to see this fleshed out, I was CRAVING simply for more and truly sad it was over so quickly! Guess I'll have to boot up Dicey Dungeons again to bridge the time until you release an updated version with hours of playtime :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I love the graphics! The curved vertical view looks great, the monsters are creative and engaging, great work! I like how you can learn the game slowly because the skill ramps up slowly and is forgiving at first. At first I was just randomly trying stuff, then I learned to see where the different health and attack stats were and started making more strategic choices. Also the bonuses you get in between rounds do feel interesting. Great work!

I really love the perspective of the battlefield, really makes the game feel unique. If I could suggest one thing not yet mentioned: please add some shade or outline to the text as it was a bit painful to read. Otherwise great concept!

This is a really cool concept and well executed! The art direction is so unique. My only issue is with the inconsistent resolution and large text which made it a bit hard to interact with.

Super nice dice-based deckbuilder! The art was jaw droppingly good. It really hit the creepy vibes while being absolutely gorgeous to look at. I'm a massive fan of deckbuilders so the gameplay itself was also super nice! I wish that there was more synergy and build diversity. Nevertheless, definitely one of the top entries I've played in this jam. Amazing work!

This was really right up my alley - I love deckbuilders, I love dice, and it had enough variety to keep things interesting throughout! The art was also great!

My only real feedback is that UI elements were overlapping each other during the tutorial (the dice tooltips were behind the instructions), which made it a little bit annoying to read, but it was only a very slight inconvenience.

Well done!

it took me a bit to parse the UI (which one was attack, that I was supposed to make a choice and not just click skip, what they enemy's attack was), but once I got the hang of it, the choices were interesting and I felt pretty engaged. I probably would've played for another hour

I've played a number of dice-based roguelike games over the years (have even made one in the past as well), and I have to say that this one is by far one of the better ones!

The base mechanic of having slots for attacking/defending is nice and simple, and you expand on it nicely with the weapon/shield upgrades. The enemy designs are also quite nice and help offer some needed variety to each fight.

Would love to see this expanded on, perhaps adding in events that allow you to modify/remove dice, or adding extra passive items that can allow for more combos! Awesome work!

In terms of gameplay, it resembles a common turn-based roguelike combat, but based on the current performance, there is still a lot of room for development. The current challenge is relatively low, and the rewards given at the end of battles are of limited use.

The game's art style is quite stunning; it's hard to imagine that this was created by just two developers within 72 hours. Combined with the atmospheric music and sound effects, it strongly highlights a creepy and indescribable ambiance.

Regarding the UI, at the beginning of the game when dialogues and tutorials are displayed, it seems that the text layers are placed beneath some art assets, causing parts of the text to be obscured by images (although this does not affect comprehension, it still impacts the visual experience). It seems that some improvement is needed here.I am very much looking forward to this project continuing to develop after LD58 ends.

@umc049 Thank you so for such a detailed review! We’ll definitely keep developing the project. We’re already working on improvements, starting with fixing some of the sillier issues like the blurry text and the inability to swap cubes in slots. Once these improvements are done, we’ll start focusing on expanding and deepening the gameplay itself.

it's interesting, the atmosphere is good, but I didn't like that when I got to an enemy that blocks the defense slot and deals 6 damage when I have 5 hp, I can't win at all. The dice slots are a bit small. Theme is not very readable

I absolutely love this game! The art, music, and atmosphere are simply incredible—the atmosphere and style are probably some of the best I've seen on GameJam. The gameplay is smooth and addictive, and I'd love to see a full version with even more content!

Nice concept and communicating of the locking of dice slots. I felt immersed enough that I checked if stalling a match would lead to an enemy running away.

The random chances for items feel a little uneven, but I think with strategy almost every run is already winnable by using the multi-slot equipment.

The abstract art mixed with monster hunting felt like a good fit for the gameplay too.
