well, it's not much, and it doesn't really fit the theme, but this is my first time doing a game jam ever, and besides reusing some old sound effects I made and paraphrasing some of my old code from other projects, everything I made (so basically just the code and music...) was from scratch, so I'm proud enough of that.
you can kind of "bullet jump" by starting a slide and then immediately jumping, I even made that boost your momentum a little bit. as you can imagine I spent most of my "development time" just playing around with that. if I end up expanding on this that's something I'd like to focus on really building the game around. you also jump much higher if you're crouching/crouch-walking when you jump.
i wanted to add basic enemy behavior and player death, but vertigo had other plans for me this weekend. honestly, I want to add a lot more to this, I might just keep working on it. but as far as I got done during the jam, this is it. hopefully next time I can make something a bit more concrete and "actually a game"-ish but I'm not unhappy with this.

Refreshing and trying again.

Love the movement system really well done!
Met and shot Parappa, my guilt knows no bounds.
The music is just \*chef's kiss\*. *Perfecto.*
That slide jump is the stuff of dreams, I'm tellin' you! Feels awesome to do.
You got a decent variety of weapons, my one qualm is that the firing arc doesn't always seem to be consistent, but then again the focus was clearly on player movement and building something playable.
While it might just be an engine test, it is one rad as hell engine test. Thanks for building a playground for all of this cool movement tech!

Regarding the slide jump: At first it was a bit ... unusual, but after a short while, I really liked it.
Another question: i am unable to rate your game (i dont see the Ratings). Is it just me or is it normal ?
PS: Not sure if it is a feature or not, but the enemies are not moving at all.
Good job finishing your first jam game!
I found the controls a bit unintuitive at first - I would've expected WASD / space to control my movement, but I wound up needing to check the controls page to figure that out. Once I got that it wasn't too bad though! Only other thing is I found my weapon fire fell down too fast.
Overall awesome job for your first shot at a game jam. I'd love to see what you make the next time around!
I love the music ; it's perfect for this kind of game, and surprisingly varied.

Really nice concept, reminds me of the old early 90's DOS games. Can see potential, the main character animation and movement feel great. Would recommend to keep working on this , especially given the content you've finished nails the old school style so well. Keep it up!
Great job on the music - I still dabble with the old tracker music, as that was what Unreal Tournament used back in the day.
The music is REALLY good, I would love to play a full game with a soundtrack like this.
The mechanics are interesting, I like the variety of attacks with the lamp. :) I wouldn't have understood some of the character mechanics if I hadn't looked at the description.
The music is great! As a fan of 90s consoles, this music conveys the Ludum theme well
And yes! ^^
