Very nice game! I loved the art-style. You must have a lot of skill/practice to make so much art so quickly!
My favorite parts:
- The art style.
- The ending!
- Enemies! I actually ran head-first into everything I could find to see if anything was dangerous. Pleasantly surprised that there was.
Suggestions:
- I think the game-loop would have benefited a lot from 'lives' (3 hospital visits and it's game-over). Traveling back and forth was not *that* engaging, and I think having lives would already make it way more intense
- Better affordance on enemies so it was clearer what was dangerous
- A rechargeable 'boost' mechanic could have made the movement more engaging
- SFX/Music would have been nice. It's too bad you couldn't get that working!
Anyways, superb job :v:
Maybe have a package show up on the turtles back, or having another object being dragged behind it.
I think the board could have the actual image of what you are looking for, not just the name.
I like the zoom on the next target, but still would like to have an arrow pointing towards them and the office, possibly only if you are more than a screen away to still let them explore the immediate vicinity.
I feel like the sharks weren't scary enough, if you're supposed to avoid them that would help with delivering that message. I think the angler fish was scarier than the sharks.
@ellaris Thanks for the feedback :) I did intend on animating some of the characters along with VFX but just ran out of time. In the end I decided against an indicator to encourage exploration but I see your point. Thanks for playing
What a breathtaking story. Controls could be more responsive but very good for Compo.
played the game, shark went to walls >.>.. loads of times went into the hospital.
Ending made me sad.
Though loved the art and the gameplay
(I cannot rate it therefore)
Edit: Finally loaded but it took so much time!
It was a surprise, it is one of those games with an ending! I found it all very original, congratulations!
I rated it with a high score
@boeruchan well I can tell you the turtle happily survived with just a few bruises ;)
@josemwarrior yeah it does take a while unfortunately. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
