Lots of great particles and nice logo. I was able to spam X through the first 5 levels, and it took me a bit to realize I didn't need to win in 10 second, just shoot every 10 like a basketball shot clock. The colors changing were also fun!
Nice pixel art! Very simple and easy to grasp concept. Resetting to the beginning after a single death is a little frustrating though. Made it to level 6.
After several try, managed to reach level7. The movement is a bit weird, but it's OK. I like the particles. Would have been good to hear some sound effects too.
Really love the style of the game, and it is juiced up a lot as well. Good job there
On the gameplay side, most levels I was able to complete by just aiming at the middle and mashing space until the enemy was dead. It only got hard (and I mean really hard) when an enemy happened to shoot towards me.
Simple and fun. Love the pixel graphics. About the gameplay, I felt like in the first 3 or 4 levels it was easier to not move the ship and just shoot from the corner, and at the more difficult levels it was a little hard to control, but it's still an awesome submission. Good job!
Very nice game! Enjoyed it a lot. Took me a while to figure out how to play well, but then I realized that you can move across the border while missiles can't, which is really great. The time mechanic is a nice touch which fits the theme.
Other than that I like the changing color themes, the particle effects and the screen shake. Very impressive.
Sound and music is the only thing I missed, other than that, great job!
Very solid polish on the art style, animations and feedbacks. Shooting and hitting the core feels very good.
Movement was a bit difficult and it felt like often the best strategy was just to sit still, shoot and pray. Moving often just got me killed. I actually did some testing and made it to the level 12 without moving at all - shooting only. And in theory you can go even longer because boss projectiles seem to be completely random. So bosses could definitely use more work if you plan to continue developing this game after the jam!
I also want to mention that I would have hoped to be able to shoot by holding the button. In a game where you are essentially speed running bosses it gets very straining for your hand to keep tapping the shoot button. Keep in mind that there does not seem to be no reason NOT to shoot so there is probably no reason to give player that option to choose when to shoot or and when to not. This may obviously change with new boss designs.
I think the 10 second rule is probably a small hinderance to this game and with longer boss timers the game could actually be pretty good. The art style is definitely the highlight of this game - it is very pretty and feels polished. Good work!
Hey @nash, thanks for the in-depth review. I do intend to fix some of the design problems of the game and add music and sfx to it at some point, so your words are of extreme importance.
The missiles are totally random until level 6, after that they tend to fly towards the player, and every now and then there are missiles fire directly at you. But they're all random, so I assume you had a 'bad' seed and had only random missiles. All the balancing was rushed and I had to base most of it on the level and a big portion of randomness.
Love the art style - movement felt a bit to complicated tho. Took me a few moments to realize how i died the first few runs, but as soon as u get the game, it is a nice little game, especially for mobile!
Nice game, loved your particle effects!
I kinda sucked at it however ahah... I think it would have helped me quite a lot if the player spawned facing more toward the center then on the side like that.
I liked the art, the particle effects, the concept and the fact you can easily play on mobile.
It seems to me like the best strategy was just to stay in the same place and spam projectiles, and just avoid stuff when it could hit you, which happens very very rarely even on later levels. Maybe having a bit more missiles could be cool?
Thanks for making it.
Thansk for sharing with us!

Thanks again for playing! =D

Thanks for the game ✨
Well done
Love the retro feel and how each level has it's colourscheme
