Play on itch.io

Reality is nothing more than the dream of an alien god, and when that god awakens everything we know will cease.

In this game, you must play the music that keeps Azathoth slumbering, preventing the end of the world. Eventually he will awaken, but you must delay that as long as possible for the sake of our world.!

Controls:

  • H, J, K, L will play notes
  • Space will kill monsters and grab powerups!

Nice work! I just spaced out for like 20 minutes tapping along. Really like the symbols and lore you built around it along with the 1.5 bit look (great start screen as well).

Cool music rhythm game. I wasn't expecting one of those with the theme being what it is. Just like @foxwater I zoned out for a while and just played and played. Also I love Lovecraftian themed stories. Well done!

Fun rhythm game. The rhythm's pace felt stilted but in the right horrific ways :)

Cool game. It took me a while to get used to using HJKL and my timing sucks but I liked the concept and music (when I was playing the tune right that is xD). My only critique would be that the "monsters" didn't register with me at 1st. I think its cause there are so many symbols going down the track that they never really stood out to me. Well Done!!!

Neat little game, I likes the minimalistic graphics, they really have some ZX Spectrum vibe to them. My only grief is that the game doesn't become much harder the longer you play.

I like the game, I thought it was really smart to give color feedback if I was close but not quite on beat, I don't think I would have thought of that. I also like the idea of using the "Z"s as an in universe health meter instead of just plugging in the numbers.

If I had to come up with a complaint, I wish the difficulty ramped up a little more. I played for quite a while but it didn't feel like it ever got particularly challenging. That's something that's hard to nail in just 48 hours and with no playtesters, though.

Overall, good job!

Pretty fun game! The visuals are great and the controls work really well. I have a question, is the music procedurally generated? Or maybe it's a combination of patterns in which you randomize things like tempo, pitch, etc? I've noticed that the notes seem to be random but the music changed from time to time as well.

Using colors to emphasize certain things in B&W visuals is something I've done in my entry as well, and it works so well! I also like the effects when you hit the notes.

I enjoyed this one a lot, great work!

Really enjoyed playing this game, the art and music were great. Would have liked to see the difficulty ramp up more each time it got faster, but great job overall!

Great Game!! I felt myself descending into madness while playing my little song to keep azathoth asleep. Truly an authentic experience!

Really stylish game! Loved the black and white look to it and a very solidly put together rhythm game! I liked that the sort of "lives" system was how many Z's Azathoth was snoring with!

Managed to keep it going until finally screwing up on exactly 1000 points XD

Nice graphics! Audio was ok. It felt repetitive, even for a rhythm game.

I like the addition of the monsters and power-ups.
