Equilibrium by zSharpFire
A plane on a small pillar, 9 different sized objects. How many can you put on before breaking the equilibrium?

New entry to the ludum dare, this is my first finished game and i'm pretty happy with it :) Sorry for the lack of sounds, i'm still learning how to make them and i'll probably add them in a future patch
I decided to continue the game in a standalone project ( jam is over and idk if i can update the main game, i think not ) and if you want, after playing the original one for rating, you can check this version out! I'm gonna keep releasing updates so stay tuned

I'm looking forward to improving the game after the jam, all the comments will be taken in consideration
It lacks some Music, and Sound FX. and also some polish, but the Idea is there and the game is Functional and quite fun
I'd say the game kinda lends itself to spamming a bit which takes away from the skill of the game.
A suggestion would be to prohibit placement of blocks that overlap on others, or place a small timer between block placements. I managed to get quite a high score by basically spam-placing overlapping blocks around the platforms center of mass.
1. Limit the location where blocks can be added.
2. Fix the 1-frame glitch which shows new blocks in the wrong place (they spawn for one frame above the pivot no matter where I click)
3. Give the player a goal per "level". Something like "Balance 10 shapes for 5 seconds without the seesaw falling."
4. Add challenge by giving weirdly shaped balancing toys and weirdly shaped objects to drop on those balancing toys.
BUT before I realized that exploit, this was really fun. I love that, compared to other physics/tower/balancing games I've seen in this jam, this one actually gives you time to make deliberate decisions. Another plus is the presentation - super simple, sure, but satisfying. The different colours and sizes of the shapes make it quite visually interesting when there's a big pile of stuff. And it's just inherently entertaining to watch big piles of physics objects interacting.
So, really simple, but really cool!
I did find I could just spam blocks from the center of the board and they would distribute out pretty evenly in terms of weight (I was able to get a score of 109 this way). The block placing system always isn't working correctly, I think? It displays a silhouette for the next block to be placed, but it often seems to decide to place something else entirely (I was going to place a tiny triangle somewhere, but then the game spawned a big box, and it shifted the weight of the seesaw entirely). Other than that, I had a lot of fun with this.
@proxy-games Yeah i noticed that bug i don't know if i can update the game i made for the jam so i'm just gonna fix that bug in the updated version you can find in the other link; Thanks for playing the game!
I tested and reviewed the game in this video: https://youtu.be/s4yliNM61Xw
@cannashblue Thanks for playing my game! I will definitely make it a mobile game once i finish adding the gamemodes
Good job :)

Congratulations on your highscore!
I tried to prevent the "iPlaceEverythingInTheCenterStrategy" by adding random sized shapes but that didn't really seem to work :/
In the updated version ( which you can find in the link above btw ) there will be difficulties, gamemodes and core mechanics changes, such as the much requested placing timer and the "placing zone", to make the game a bit more challenging and much longer
For all the beta players out there i'll add the options to disable the features that may make the game too hard
I have the high score now!!!!
Very fun! I could see this being a great idle game on the play store!
I never thought this game would be this addictive!
Nicely done!
